DEACE: GOP Establishment Uses Democratic smear tactics to win Mississippi runoff
Washington Times ^

Posted on 06/25/2014 1:42:24 PM PDT by Bigtigermike

It turns out the Republican Party can mobilize minority voters after all — by despicably playing the race card against its own base.

In a kamikaze move that could’ve been sponsored by the Hemlock Society, a ruling class desperate for a Pyrrhic victory decided it was better to save fossilizing Mississippi Sen. Thad Cochran than preserve whatever scintilla of party unity remains.

It’s one thing to disagree with your base. It’s entirely another thing to use the most slanderous assaults on their character from their opponents for your own benefit.

[.....]

Numbers never lie. The GOP establishment mobilized Democrats to cross over in Mississippi’s open primary to save Cochran. That in and of itself would be bad enough, but it’s how they did it that is an unforgiveable sin. Consider the words of this Cochran robo-call:

“The time has come to take a stand and say no to the tea party. No to their obstruction. No to their disrespectful treatment of the first African-American president. If we do nothing, tea party candidate Chris McDaniel wins and causes even more problems for President Obama. With your help we can stop this. Please commit to voting against tea party candidate Chris McDaniel next Tuesday and say ‘no’ to the tea party!

A Mississippi newspaper actually quoted a Democratic Party operative named James “Scooby Doo” Warren admitting he was putting together a statewide get-out-the-vote effort on behalf of Cochran in the Republican primary. Warren said he was coordinating with the “Mississippi Conservatives PAC” that has ties to the family of former Gov. Haley Barbour. The article said “large sums of cash are being passed around. These guys are old-school ‘walking around money’ vote buyers.”

I learned all I needed to know about the “GOP Establishment” last night..just another term for Democrat progressive..they are one in the same, using the same smears against Conservatives, using the same sleazy tactics to win, then they expect Conservatives to vote for them in November

The GOP wants our money and our vote, but not our priniples.

There is nothing conservative about the GOP. It is a deceitful party.

That sums it up perfectly.

And many of them will. 'He didn't mean to hit me - he told me he really loves me.'

When you have one segment of the GOP that’s actively colluding with the Democrats to prevent a candidate (from another segment of the GOP) from winning, I view that as war.

Not with the Democrats - but with our own party.

I’m not a Tea Party guy. I consider myself to be mainstream conservative. But I’m appalled at what one wing of the GOP did.

There was nothing wrong with McDaniel. He seemed like a fine candidate, not a loose cannon. Cochran served our nation well - but his time had passed. It was (and remains) time for new blood in the Senate - and House.

Enough of this K-Street involvement and a little more involvement with those of us on Main Street!

I will NEVER again vote for a RINO. If the RAT wins, so be it. I am so livid at the utterly evil tactics of the GOPe in Mississippi I can't put it into words.

I caught the last part of Rush today. He was ranting about the flyer and what the GOPe did to Cuccinelli (sp) in VA. He said the GOP abandoned him and let McCullif (sp) win.

Rush was quite upset. He essentially stated that if he was in Mississippi he wouldn't vote for Cochran in November.

I have never been this angry at the utterly evil GOPe. I truly have feelings of hatred for them -- they are allowing our Republic to be destroyed

What amazes me is that there are still people who post here who think the Republican Party can be taken over by Tea Partiers.

You want results? Leave the Grand Old Plantation.

I not only called and emailed the RNC, but the Rep Senatorial Campaign Committee also. Their ears were ringing when I was done and their email probably was smoking when they opened mine.

I am disgusted by the underhanded things that were pulled so that Cochran could win this election. I hate to say this and I never thought I would, but I hope like hell that the Dem. steals the election from Cochran in Nov.

I think Cochran deserves the title of cockroach politician

Certainly, his name reminds me of the word cockroach.

Maybe that label will stick to Cochran after this runoff election.

Cockroach Cochran -- if the shoe fits, wear it. Or rather, he will be forced to wear it. Along with the slime that is all him and Haley Barbour after this election.

My understanding is that Hannity said the same thing today on his radio show.
I can only imagine what Levin will say tonight.
I will be tuned in.

I posted on another thread my disgusting call to the DC office of the RNSC, talking to a dweeb named Evan who was so delighted with last night's outcome. I politely told him of my total disgust, and why and said I will NEVER, NEVER, EVER again help the national GOP. NEVER. I will go direct to my candidate of choice. I've actually been doing this for about 10 years now.

PLEASE folks, call your rep and senator and any GOP office you can, to proclaim your disgust. Anyone else do this already? What was their reaction?

Indeed!

If conservatives truly believe in citizen representation, along with a return to their private lives after a term of service, then developing a conservative 3rd party/Write-in campaign should be considered noble and be praised.

The GOP (R) brand is and has been (for a long time) a mark of deception.
