(CNN) – Sen. Susan Collins, a Republican from Maine, indicated her support Wednesday for same-sex-marriage, becoming the fourth sitting Republican senator to do so.
“A number of states, including my home state of Maine, have now legalized same-sex marriage, and I agree with that decision,” Collins said according to the Bangor Daily News in response to one of its reporter's questions.
She joins Republican Sens. Mark Kirk of Illinois, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Rob Portman of Ohio in expressing support for the marriage equality movement.

I’m actually surprised she’s just now doing this. Collins (and the retired Snowe) were always lefties on most of the social issues.
As for the others...Murky will endorse anyone and anything, so long as she gets campaign cash out of it. Dunno much about Kirk or Portman.
This should raise the hackles of all genuine small-l libertarians. It is the imposition of nonsense upon the citizenry... thou shalt call these buggery affairs marriages... NYET. It goes WAAAAY beyond social permissiveness.

It may be time to completely divorce state sanctioned civil contract unions from the act of a holy joining of a man and woman in a contract between themselves and sworn before God.
Call the civil union “marriage” and let the government define it and perform it. Call the religious union “holy matrimony” and let it be performed before God in the church according to God’s laws.
Kirk claims to be "moderate" but votes to the LEFT of many card-carrying Chicago Democrats and even gloated how he got a more liberal rating than Obama from the Sierra Club. Sadly some freepers actually defend this marxist puke and claim he's the "best we can get" in a so-called "blue" state.
Portman is a useless squish who "evolved" on homosexual marriage when his son came out as homosexual.
