Chris McDaniel May Fight Mississippi GOP Senate Primary Loss In Court

Cochran's tea party challenger, Chris McDaniel, refused to concede and in a statement Wednesday afternoon did not rule out the possibility of taking his case to court.

McDaniel and many of his supporters are incensed that Cochran achieved his victory in part by winning votes from Democrats, who were able to take part in the contest because of the state's open primary law.

Tuesday's runoff was 67,000 votes higher than in the first round of voting earlier this month — a rare occurrence. Some of the biggest increases came in heavily black — and Democratic — areas, particularly in and around Jackson, the capital, and in smaller communities in the state's Delta region.

"If our party and our conservative movement are to coexist, it is paramount that we ensure the sanctity of the election process is upheld," McDaniel's statement said. "We must be absolutely certain that our Republican primary was won by Republican voters.

"In the coming days, our team will look into the irregularities to determine whether a challenge is warranted," the statement said. "After we've examined the data, we will make a decision about whether and how to [proceed]."

Establishment GOP figures praised Cochran's victory as an indication of an inclusive campaign. One of the architects of the strategy, Henry Barbour, the nephew of former Mississippi governor and Republican Party Chairman Haley Barbour, said Cochran's outreach to Democrats was "good for the party" — a way to broaden the GOP's shrinking base of older, white voters.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) noted that "receiving African American votes in the Republican primary is no easy thing" and said that "Republicans should celebrate the fact that African Americans felt good enough about a Republican to think he's a fair man."

Look, I I lived in Miss. I would end up voting for Cockroach....never the dem....

but as I understand it, a person voting in one primary as a democrat can not vote in the next as a pub, and vice versa....

what would it take to skim the list of voters and check for crossovers?....

I’m not sure, but I don’t think there’s anything he can legally do.

They stole the election and followed all the secular laws doing it.

“”If our party and our conservative movement are to coexist,”

Well that simply can NOT happen.

You are correct. There really isn’t any legal recourse. There is no direct evidence of anything other than political “dirty tricks” and that is not illegal.

A law suit is a waste of time. What is NOT a waste of time is mobilizing the Tea Party for a write in vote.

Yes, that is how I understand it.

Democrats who voted in their primary can NOT vote in the runoff. But how do they check this for each voter showing up?

Heck the guv’t can’t even find Lerner’s emails. Impossible they can check every Rat showing up at the voting booth if they voted earlier.

So take the bastages to court, McDaniel!

This is exactly the scenario they envisioned when they wrote those laws I bet. Establishment Protection laws.

Maybe the reason that the party has only older white voters is because they will vote e the lesser of two evils. The key word is evil. The party leadership only stands for getting reelected not principles.

I will not vote for the party any longer. The R means nothing anymore to me. I will vote for a dem just to get rid of a rino. I stand a better chance in the following election to get someone elected that stands for the country and not their party. I see little benefit for anyone to get the current leadership back in power.

If my reps keep voting for the spineless and rino leadership in the party they have chosen their side and must go as well. I don't care if they are conservative or not. If they vote for the leadership they are negating their own vote. To me this is just more of the spineless cover votes like the dems do just to get reelected. Vote conservative when they want to look good to their voters is all they are doing.

I don’t know how Mississippi does it, but in my FL county, for every election we have to sign a book before we get a ballot. The book has the name of every registered voter in that precinct along with the political party they registered under. We sign next to our name as proof we received a ballot.

It would be very easy to find out if someone voted in a particular election here, but as I said, I have no idea how they work it in Mississippi.

It seems that just as the democrats wants to replace blacks with latinos, GOPe will now want to replace conservatives with blacks.

Except that today, spite votes really could produce a Democrat dumper that will fade out in a whimper.

I’m wondering what Cochrane ads are going to say now:

“Yeah, I called you all racist bigots who want to discriminate against black people. But now I want to lead you.” *smile*

“What’s it matter now?!”

“I’m just like the Democrat, so choose me.” *smile*

“You don’t understand: I really wanted to be the chairman of the committee.”
