VA nurse alleges agency turned on her after she reported abuses

A Veterans Affairs nurse who spent 28 years at the embattled agency's facility in Albany, N.Y., says when she came forward to report abuse including stolen drugs and mistreatment of patients, her supervisors turned on her instead of trying to fix things.

Nursing manager Val Riviello, 55, was considered an outstanding employee at the Albany Stratton VA Medical Center until last November, when she reported that doctors had restrained a patient for seven hours in violation of VA rules. Now she has been banished to an office cubicle, stripped of her nursing duties and supervisory role and faces a 30-day suspension without pay.

...

Riviello also reported the theft of 5,000 vials of morphine from a locked drawer. She said the vials were refilled with saline solution, which was given to veterans in hospice care and in dire need of pain management

I have no doubt. The Nazi regime in the WH does not like whistleblowers. This admin needs to be punished. They are just as authoritarian in view as the OWS crowd, so from now on, Mooch and Bamster should be made to sleep in a tent. I’ll be there every morning to laugh at them.

AS a former V.A. employee, I empathize with her.

To the world, everything is ducky, inside the walls of the V.A.

Corruption was abound in the New Orleans V.A., as well.
It’s been 9 years since Hurricane Katrina changed the landscape, but the memory I have, is that I was glad, that my boss’s house was destroyed, for the garbage she pulled on some of the office staff, including a former Green Beret captain.

It doesn’t seem to say if she caught heat for complaining about the morphine theft. That was particularly cruel too, how they did it, replacing the liquid in vials with inert saline. I imagine some consternation ensued when the duds were discovered.

Payback is a bitch when you are a whistleblower. If there ever was a penalty for reprisal against someone who spills the beans, there might be an entirely new gubmint. Now THAT would create jobs!

Live near Albany.
The local Offal Official Obama Orifice and Outlet (OOOOO) newspaper, the Times Union (Albany NY), has not noted the alleged outrages..... apparently the word has gone out from the White House “Lay Off the Veteran Affairs Stuff”
However, following their LEADER they did have a “nice” editorial promoting Obama’s Carbon Tax.
.........and “NO”, no mention of GOWDY and the IRS Tax Commissioner, ever!

I watched the Republicans which traded openly with Vietnam use our own Navy to protect their ships which supplied the weapons and material used to kill our men / women because it was “just business it didn’t count”. Rockefeller who had steamship companies who wanted American radio officers and American officers could not get them because they was foreign flag.
The catch 22 were these steamship companies traded openly with (North Vietnam). Governor Rockefeller was asked about this when he became Vice President. His answer was “I own so many companies how I can keep tract of them”. That is fine Governor said the senator.

The cost for merchant marine operation per ton for American flag ship versus foreign flag was less than 2 cents a ton but the rules was where the money was made by breaking laws of America by American companies to sell both sides of every war.

It is time to put a bullet into the beast of the American industrial military complex. By the Way my brother died from Viet Nam it took forty years and two efforts by the American government.

First it gave him agent orange and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, but was not quick enough so they gave him blood by product medicine they could not use on animals because it came from blood groups that killed the Hemophiliac, he died of Hepatitis B, the VA told him when he asked about a new liver, Oh you will be dead by the cancer before then, they lied again, he died of infection a horrible slow painful death..
