PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — Republican Sen. Susan Collins on Wednesday announced her support for gay marriage for the first time after getting an endorsement from the nation's largest LGBT advocacy organization in her bid for re-election.

"A number of states, including my home state of Maine, have now legalized same-sex marriage, and I agree with that decision," the Maine Republican said in a statement issued after several news organizations made inquiries.

Collins joins three other GOP senators who have said they support gay marriage: Illinois' Mark Kirk, Alaska's Lisa Murkowski and Ohio's Rob Portman.

She had been criticized for keeping her view to herself until Wednesday. Campaign spokesman Lance Dutson says she's consistently said the decision rests at the state or local level. She has twice voted against proposed constitutional amendments to define marriage as between a man and a woman.

And the hits just keep coming!

Just another useless old fossil ready for the tar pits. All this tells me is that her internals must yield trouble ahead. Even further evidence dolts like her know nothing about physics.

Better get used to it. 20 years from now the GOP will be claiming that marriage equality was their idea.

What do these folks have in common:
  1. They are part of the GOPe
  2. They are US Senators
  3. They are RINOS
  4. ALL of the above

Our GDP is minus 2.9% , Baghdad may soon fall into terrorist’s hands, our borders are being overrun by illegals, the IRS is knee deep in corruption, we’re $17+ trillion in debt, veterans are being abused by the VA, and this senator is worried about same sex marriage?

This is what is wrong with Washington.

I oppose all laws that coerce private choice. Hence I must oppose all so-called equal opportunity legislation.

The Ultimate Supreme Court of Heaven will have the final say on the matter. This support for the perversion of the Almighty’s will and design for marriage will end up in an ash heap of worthless soot. What foolishness by so many dupes.

I gave up sending her emails long ago. Nothing about her I can stand including her voice.

As for the gay issue, she’s always been for it.

Thank you for expanding the list. It’s obvious that even if we take the Senate in Nov, it’s not gonna be all rainbows.

What good are Senators anyway?
We can survive just fine without them but they desperately need us yet they lord it over us as well. They get fabtabulous all expenses paid country club benefits and their ultimate goal is to leave in the stiff, horizontal position. Buncha robber barons and they treat us like serfs.

Yeah it shouldn’t be any surprise. All you have to do is check with which party she votes most the time. She needs to be voted out in November

Can a politician be forced out of a party? She does not represent anything conservatives stand for. She is a complete liberal. She needs a “D” after her name.
