California suburbanites are engaged in a fight with the federal government over its attempt to turn a residential building into a detention center for illegal-immigrant children.
The Department of Health and Human Services submitted an application to the city of Escondido’s Planning Commission to use a 35,200 square-foot facility to house almost 100 children. On Tuesday night in this suburb of San Diego, the city commission held a hearing to review the request and unanimously voted to oppose the application. Several hundred people filled the chamber hall to make their voices heard, and people at the meeting say the overwhelming majority opposed the application. The standing-room-only crowd spilled over into an adjacent room and nearby hallways, and onto the grass outside.

The Escondido area received thousands of boat people during the fall of Vietnam. It has already happened in their “back yard” once.

I say send them to Chicago, New York, San Francisco,
Atlanta, LA, New Orleans, Portland, Seattle, St Louis,
Detroit, and other liberal bastions.

Short of militarizing the border and putting troops into Mexico to prevent border crossings..our borders are meaningless. Any women with kids, or kids alone, that make it across get to stay indefinitely. Mexican men get deported and can try again, but women and children get a pass. Now all of Latin America knows that and they will be coming in hordes.
At least then their animal control department saved some money.
Exactly. They want them here for their sole purpose, let them take care of them in Washington DC.
okay but not the inner cities... and let's include other blue states and liberal bastions... see how they like it... in the suburbs, the gated communities, resorts: Georgetown, The Hamptons, Matha's Vineyard, Hyannis Port, Beverly Hills, Malibu, Vail, Aspen... you see?

do remind them that there are some conservatives here like us.
I don’t think liberals will ever get the message if all we do is send
the fence hoppers “HOME”.
Outside of two urban corridors - Marin to San Jose, San Fernando to Santa Ana - Californians are no more liberal than the rest of the country.
I have stood up to the California bashers here many times here, reminding them that the founder of this site is from California.
I hate American liberals, too, but I don’t think any American should have to put up with illegals being put in their neighborhoods. Now the liberals’ kids will be beaten up in their schools. It’s not their fault their parents are liberals.
Innocent people in those cities will be attacked by illegal gang members or hit by unlicensed, uninsured illegal drivers. Innocent people in those cities will lose their local emergency rooms. There’ll be diseases. And on and on.
I want illegals GONE more than I want to “send some message” to liberals.
Unfortunately no. In our neighborhood chickens and pigs were backyard animals for awhile.
