Posted on 06/26/2014 11:13:04 AM PDT by mandaladon
House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. Darrel Issa (R-CA) demanded a special prosecutor to investigate the IRS over its targeting of conservative groups and the disappearance of emails from key officials.
Issa declared that IRS Commissioner John Koskinen is not the ideal person, not even an appropriate person to oversee the investigation into the IRS conducts, and that this case calls for a true, special, independent prosecutor who has the ability to issue warrants, to seize materials, to safeguard documents and other information before it goes away and get to the truth.
He added that a special prosecutor will almost certainly not be named by President Barack Obama or Attorney General Eric Holder.
Issa added that the revelation that Lois Lerner improperly gave the personal information of donors to the Justice Department made it clear that her attorney should take back that statement she made, that perjured statement that she broke no laws, she broke no regulations. He concluded, of course she broke laws and of course she broke regulations and we need to hold her accountable.
Even though he said that Lerner was biased, had an agenda, and broke laws, Issa stated that he absolutely would be willing to give Lerner immunity if she would deliver to us the explanation of who she worked with in this conspiracy.

I think she would still lie even if given immunity. I want her to go to jail.
Never grant immunity unless you know for certain the information you are going to receive...never!
And she gives up Hussein first. Don't want her pulling a Lt. Col. North on us.
If he and Boehner would just have the Sergeant at Arms arrest her until the end of the session, they’d get all the publicity they need about what she’s done.
Pretend that Lerner is Roger Clemens.
Go after her like you did then.
any day now we’ll hear in the news that Lois Lerner has fallen off a tall building
He may know it. Lois thinks she’s super smart by playing super-dumb (who, lil’ ol’ me and that big nasty computer thing?) but there’s no way she can hide all that correspondence forever.
Also, I believe government employees are not supposed to conduct official business on their personal laptops or phones, and she happened to mention that she was using her Blackberry for this.
And on top of it, wasn’t she the one using an alias to communicate? A man’s name, to throw people off? If it wasn’t Lois, it was some other higher up. In any case, there’s nothing innocent about that, and I’m sure there have been investigators poring over that too.
First of all Issa is dancing on the head of a pin in the absence of a Special Prosecutor, and running out the clock, and second, Lois Lerner will never give up Holder/Obama for any reason. Obama is a religious experience for her, so, “NO”, to immunity.
Besides, she seems quite safe having pleaded the 5th.
IRS hearings will get wider coverage when agency does something truly egregious, like closing a lane on a bridge.

And she should stay clear of Ft. Marcy Park.
I believe you are remembering the EPA chief, and I believe she was forced out and resigned.
put her in jail until she sings!
she won’t say anything with immunity. she knows she is off the hook.
Issa said on OR the other night he had filed 4 criminal charges against her with DOJ and DOJ (read Holder/Obama) had done nothing?
It’s start to start impeachment proceedings on Holder.
Arrest the soldiers, they will give up the capos, the capos will give up the Don.
I’m sure Gowdy has made Issa well aware of this. I don’t thnk this woman will ever spill the beans.
The Code of Omerta. She ain’t talking. Nobody is talking. Everybody skates in the end.
