Matt Lauer Asked Mary Barra If She Can Be a Good Mom and Run GM (& are you going to be GM's mommy?)

Here’s a transcript of that part of the interview:

LAUER: You’re a mom, I mentioned, two kids. You said in an interview not long ago that your kids told you they’re going to hold you accountable for one job and that is being a mom.

BARRA: Correct. (smiling.)

LAUER: Given the pressures of this job at General Motors, can you do both well?

BARRA: You know, I think I can. I have a great team, we’re on the right path…I have a wonderful family, a supportive husband and I’m pretty proud of the way my kids are supporting me in this.

Lauer also asked her about the speculation that despite her 30 years of experience at the company, she may have gotten the job because of the desire to have a maternal figure guide the company through a rocky time.

LAUER: I want to tread lightly here. You’ve heard this, you heard it in Congress. You got this job because you’re hugely qualified, 30 years in this company a variety of different jobs. But some people are speculating that you also got this job because as a woman and as a mom because people within General Motors knew this company was in for a very tough time and as a woman and a mom you could present a softer image and softer face for this company as it goes through this horrible episode. Does it make sense or does it make you bristle?

He tried the "some people speculate" dodge, but I don't think it'll work. Now he'll have to grovel and apologize.

She doesn’t have to run GM. GM is no longer an automaker. It’s just part of The Big Democrat Money Laundering Machine. American taxpayer money goes in and Democrat donations and votes come out. Cars? What are those?

“American taxpayer money goes in and Democrat donations and votes come out. Cars? What are those?”

A waste product, incidental to the real corporate mission: to get Democrats (members of the “Government Party”) elected an to keep them there.

Yea, tough hard hitting question. Now ask her if she feels guilty taking a paycheck from GM when they cost the U.S. tax payer tens of billions of dollars. (NO the money was NOT paid back, only the loan was. The ‘investment’ in the re-launch lost billions!).

How does she feel about being a shill for a company that screwed their bond holders out of billions of dollars? Ask her what it is like to be the corporatist hand puppet of the Obama administration.

How about whether it would have been better to bring in a person with at least some experience in a successfully run business instead of a GM hack that has worked in the corrupt and ill managed corporation since she was in high school and doesn’t even have a relative that has worked in any capacity that didn’t involve GM? Or the likelihood that she would have advanced so quickly through the corporate ranks in the past six years had she NOT had a vagina, having held four different upper management positions in less than five years. Prior to that she was a manager an assembly plant.

Try those questions Matt!

It’s easier just to ask her if she was hired to be a mommy to GM. Lauer suits his audience just fine.
