Detroit groups reach out to UN as water customers are tapped out
Fox News ^ | Published June 24, 2014

A coalition of activist groups took the rare step Monday and appealed to the United Nations over reports that cash-strapped residents in Detroit are being left without access to water.

The appeal to the U.N.’s special rapporteur comes after reports that nearly half of the Detroit Water and Sewerage customers are delinquent on their bills and owe the department about $118 million. The department has reportedly started shutting off water to these delinquent customers.

Beside the amount due, the city council last week approved higher rates for customers by more than $5 per month, The Detroit Free Press reported. Those additional funds would help repair the antiquated system, the department said.

“Margaret Thatcher said that Socialism ends when it runs out of other people’s money. I guess the Socialists of Detroit have one last card to play before their brand of Socialism truly collapses.”

Let me clarify what she has said.

The 1%ers are the biggest promoters of collectivism since 1826 with British industrialist Robert Owen.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Owen

Collectivism only ends after the 1%ers have convinced the politicians long enough to play the ends (the rich and poor) against the middle class to bankruptcy because it is only the rich and poor that benefit from such.

Does DWSD still in charge of the water supplies for all of the northern suburbs? Or did Oakland, Macomb, and St. Clair counties take over those water systems? I grew up in Pontiac, and remember reading that at least 25% of the pumping capacity was solely to cover all of the leaks in the decrepit early 20th century system that they still currently use.

A lot of the reason for shutting off blocks of customers is that the system under Detroit is literally collapsing from age and neglect.

I just got my water bill for $60. To whom in the UN should I forward it?

Detroit’s situation might be caused by an absence of competent, decent government. The water problem might be something different. If it’s like what’s happening in Cleveland, it’s possible that people could be barely holding on to housing but can’t afford the utilities. Around here, the water and sewer bills have skyrocketed and there’s no end in sight. EPA regulations have forced really expensive upgrades and it’s all passed on to the consumer.

"I just got my water bill for $60."

That's about what our water bill was at our old house, and that was for 2 month. We moved into town 6 months ago. Now our bill is 160.00 base, then we pay for volume on top of that.

Proof positive Detroit divorced the USA a long time ago ... or the muzzies captured it and annexed it.

Dear citizens of Detroit: As President Obama once said, “Elections have consequences!” You voted in Democrats for years. You can now turn on your faucets and get a cool and refreshing glass of stupid s**t because you voted for it.

Detroit has a 3rd World population with 3rd World ways and 3rd World problems. They can not generate the capital or the social conditions that can produce a 1st World civilization including 1st World infrastructure. If not for the massive infusions for cash confiscated from taxpayers outside the city Detriot would revert back into wilderness and its residents would live no differently than their ancestors.

“The UN is good at sending humanitarian aid to hell-hole third world locations.”

Minor correction needed:
“The UN is good at sending AMERICAN TAXPAYER FUNDED humanitarian aid to hell-hole third world locations.”

I heard the living cadaver john congers say today that water is a human right. The courts said so. I think the host was too afraid congers would die I. The air if he questioned him further.
