Nanny Refuses to Move Out 3 Weeks After Being Fired, Upland Couple Says
Upland couple Marcella and Ralph Bracamonte were caught in what they described Thursday as a nanny nightmare.
The Bracamontes fired their live-in nanny three weeks ago, but said the woman was refusing to leave and even threatened the couple with legal action.
“She said, ‘if you want me to go, you’ll need to evict me. I have rights,’” Marcella Bracamonte said.
In March, Marcella Bracamonte placed an ad on Craigslist looking for a retiree to watch her three children — two boys, ages 11 and 4, and a 16-month-old girl — and help around the house in exchange for room and board.
Dianne Stretton, 64, accepted the job after the Bracamontes conducted a background check and checked her references. The couple said Stretton was amazing, at least at first.

She wouldn’t have pulled that nonsense in Chino, Pomona or the City of Industry...
Maybe they won’t hire anymore unknown immigrants as a nanny, after this. If they’re leftys, rhough, they never learn.
These folks made a very bad decision by using Craigslist to hire a live in nanny and then not being aware of employment laws or laws governoring landlords and tenants.
The next guy to knock on their door is going to be an IRS agent and he will tag them not paying taxes on their nanny.
It seems reasonable that a live-in nanny would require the same notice to move out as would a tenant at will.
Do they really expect they can turn someone out on the street on 24-hours notice?

They should have done a thorough background check of this woman..it wasn’t a secret that this woman had a very long history of suing people, they should have known better. The woman probably got the idea from Occupy Wall Street protestors, use the squatting technique, find a house, either abandoned or inhabited, and just refuse to leave
Geeze, same problem we’ll probably end up having at the White House.
If it were me, I would make living there so not worth it. I would turn off the utilities, no groceries in the house, I would bring home take out meals for my family and kids only. See how long she will stay.
I saw on news tonight she is counter suing for breach of contract.

It’s amazing how the law favors the squatters. It’s very difficult to evict anyone even with a contract, full notice and consideration. You can’t even touch their stuff or make their living conditions uncomfortable. It’s crazy.
I looked up some info on this when we had problems with an uncle who was getting thrown out of his assisted living residence. We had taken him into our home a few months before, then he became unruly, so he agreed to try the nearby residence. I was afraid he would move back in and refuse to leave (he worked me to death with his unending demands and all night wanderings). It was a big relief when he upped and moved out of town in a huff, took up with a woman, and never called us again.
They already lock the refrigerator and cabinets so she can’t get food..what I would do is when she gets home and goes into her “Room” I would have the kids just start screaming, make all kinds of noise, have loud parties..this woman is a squatter, probably a liberal loon..in order to get cockroaches like that out you have to use RAID
California law makes it even tougher..getting a tenant who doesn’t pay rent can take up to six months to get rid of them..my Mom is a landlord, she has had to evict people before, its a HUGE hassle and they know that..the laws here protect the tenant, not the homeowner
I remember when Hillary’s kid brother - who was living in the White House - asked to stay on after the Clintons left. He was kicked out pronto.
