Larry Sabato: Despite Mississippi loss, Tea Party 'is alive and well'
The Washington Examiner's Washington Secrets ^ | June 27, 2014 | Paul Bedard

The Tea Party's failure to knock off long-time Mississippi GOP Sen. Thad Cochran has depressed supporters, but the tight race not only showed that the movement is alive, but also that it is here to stay, according to the University of Virginia's Center for Politics.

In a new analysis of the race between Cochran and state Sen. Chris McDaniel, the U.Va. political team, headed by Larry Sabato, found that competing ably with the establishment is a strong indicator that the Tea Party itself is become more established and a force that GOP leaders are going to have to deal with.

“The Tea Party, or the unorganized mass of voters who identify with the movement's anti-establishment and outsider tenets, is alive and well,” they wrote in the latest “Crystal Ball,” the center's weekly review of politics.

“They don’t win every race, or even a large majority of them, but they are now well established as a significant faction of the GOP in many states and congressional districts. Republican Party leaders can’t wish them away; the leaders need to deal them in, to the extent possible,” said Sabato’s team.

They also found that despite sneering by the Tea Party and conservative leaders, the Republican establishment is also healthy and able to fight back when needed.

“The establishment may get down but it is never out. Cochran’s victory, as slim as it was, was an impressive feat for the national and state party leadership,” they wrote....

If the GOP-E would simply start embracing the principals of fiscal restraint and limited government they supposedly believe in, they wouldn’t have a Tea Party “problem.”

STOP SPENDING. STOP BEING DEMOCRAT-LITE. STOP TRYING TO GET THE MEDIA TO LIKE YOU. Is that really too much to ask?

Tea party Republicans did not lose. Mcdaniels won by 8-9% among Republican voters. Now If we can just get the battered wife segment of the party to join us in casting off these rinos...

Chris won more votes than Cockroach in the initial primary, something every single MenSeekingMen article forgets to report, which is what caused the run-off.

Which forced the Whoring of Cockroach of the legal jeopardy of Mississippi Blacks.

The armies separated; and, it is said, Pyrrhus replied to one that gave him joy of his victory, that one other such would utterly undo him/5/. For he had lost a great part of the forces he brought with him, and almost all his particular friends and principal commanders; there were no others there to make recruits, and he found the confederates in Italy backward. On the other hand, as from a fountain continually flowing out of the city, the Roman camp was quickly and plentifully filled up with fresh men, not at all abating in courage for the losses they sustained, but even from their very anger gaining new force and resolution to go on with the war.

What Cochran did to win has rallied the Tea Party more than ever. It was a Pyrrhic victory if ever there was one.

The Republican Party, so often the victim of election stealing by the Demmunist Party, has shown that it can play that game too — but only if it is played against the Tea Party.

I would say the future of the Tea Party is better than the GOP!

November may wipe all the pundits into the toilets they belong in - I believe that us Mississippians will refuse to vote for Cochran and may even cross over to vote for the Dim opponent.

I'm usually a proponent of voting "our side" even if it's a lousy candidate, to keep their side out. In this case, "our side" has crossed deep into the dark side. I don't know if I can vote for the Dim, but Cochran will not get my family's votes.

If they think the initial primary put the pucker effect into the GOPe, wait for severe constipation to set in when Thad loses the seat and throws the crap into their smug faces.

Why do we need his analysis? He might be a great guy in person, but does he not come across as almost snobish on TV?

We do not need his pronunciation that what is in our hearts is alive and kicking. Perhaps the rest of the lame streams (and yes this may be a circle talk to them ) and those who have never met us, have to understand we aren't going away.

FWIW the McDaniel ( and Brat effort ) is very analogous to an upstart Hockey Team ( or insert sport name ) that steps into a league above their grade and kick's butt in the play offs and may not win them all, but surprises the heck out of people.

May the surprises continue...
