Pardon me for not being all broken up over Hillary being 'dead broke'

This column was going to be about the pressing needs of food banks during the summer months. But thatll have to wait until the next column.
Why? Because I heard about a family that knows the true meaning of suffering, and the bitter struggle that accompanies the daily fight to survive.
I had no idea about Bill and Hillary Clinton.
We came out of the White House not only dead broke, but in debt, Hillary Clinton told ABC News Diane Sawyer recently. We had no money when we got there, and we struggled to, you know, piece together the resources for mortgages, for houses, for Chelseas education. You know, it was not easy.
Wow. Times are tough.
But Im having trouble picturing Bill and Hillary, huddled around their last can of Sterno, wrapped in soiled blankets, furtively eating boxed macaroni and cheese while theyre plotting their next life choice.
See, all this time I thought the term no money meant that you you know had no money.
The Clintons version of no money is reporting an income of more than $357,000 on their joint 2000 income tax return.
HOW ON EARTH DID THEY GET their daughter, Chelsea, through Stanford University on the mere pension of a U.S. president and the salary of a U.S. senator? And while shopping around for two houses? And with nothing more on the horizon than Hillarys $8 million advance on a book deal?
True, they reported more than $10 million in debt, but that evaporated inside of four years because the Clintons started cashing in on lucrative speaking engagements. From then to now, those speaking deals have brought in more than $100 million.
And good for them. I mean it. But please, dont toss around phrases such as dead broke as if youve known genuine poverty.
Dont make your financial uncertainties lasting way less than a year sound anything close to the real, honest, sweat-of-the-brow struggles of two working parents trying to pay off their 30-year mortgage and car loans and monthly utilities and their kids orthodontic work and any other sudden expenses under the sun that can wipe out an average Americans savings in the blink of an eye.
ITS HARD TO WRITE SOMETHING like this and not sound like Im puckering on sour grapes. Im not, honestly. My family doesnt starve. My roof doesnt leak. However, I tend to repel monetary wealth like a trenchcoat repels rain, and I have come to terms with that.
But it never fails to stick in my craw when I hear well-to-do people exaggerating complaints about what they have, in a world in which so many have so little.
WATERisLIFE is a nonprofit dedicated to bringing safe water, proper sanitation and correct hygiene to squalid communities worldwide.
In 2012 it unveiled a TV public service announcement that showed impoverished Third World villagers reciting some of the First World complaints that tumble out of our mouths.
Imagine a boy sitting in a ruined cinderblock hovel echoing the complaint of when I have to write my maid a check, but I forget her last name.
Picture a girl mimicking the whine when I leave my clothes in the washer so long they start to smell, and in the background are a half-dozen fellow villagers cleaning their clothes by beating them on rocks beside a feeble stream.
THE CLINTONS, BEYOND ANY DOUBT, are multimillionaires. They join more than 7 million Americans who are millionaires, according to the Boston Consulting Groups Global Wealth Report, released Tuesday.
What gift do you get for the former first lady who has everything?
Heres something Mrs. Clinton needs more of: perspective.
Perspective is one thing you cant buy at any price. You can give it to someone, but its best when you barter for it on your own.
Discernment is a fair trade. You might even receive enlightenment as a bonus.
Thats infinitely more valuable than any advance you could get on a book deal.
I remember when the Clintons were being moved, painfully (Hugh Rodham was moved out just the day before the inauguration) out of the WH
Terry “Shaw-Wow” McAuliffe had just funded their new mansions in Chappaqua and DC
Hillary the Homeless was “registered” at high end gift shops in DC so supporters could buy gifts to furnish her new homes (as if the WH silver and Air Force One china weren’t enough)
One of Hillary’s registry gift lists was published
It included a set of silver asparagus tongs
never forgot that
Yeah. Not something one would forget.
True that they had some debt when leaving the WH but it didn’t last long. And they didn’t wipe it out from just speaking fees. Can you kids say DNC bagman? I knew that you could.
As I said before the best thing for a rich person to do is to find a wizard accounting firm to make them broke on paper. But none are stupid enough to brag about it.
I have a set of those, but I bought them myself at an antique show.
Worth saying again.
this wasn’t the article I remember - but do a search on Hillary and asparagus tongs ... and sure enough!
One can only imagine how the homeless use a $2300 Spode tureen ....
And remember he only made 30 to 35 thousand a year as governor of Arkansas, and all of a sudden he was President.
Remember the miraculous cattle futures and all the Indonesian and Red Chinese money funneled their way while in the White House? The Clintons are a criminal enterprise. They steal everything they can get their hands on. When they were forced out of the White House they stole numerous articles including the silver, all of which had to be retrieved.
Hillary had the terrible taste and gall to register gift lists to furnish their new houses and allow open graft. The mortgage on at least one residence was paid by We The People disguised as rent charged to their on-site Secret Service detachment.
Hillary was then given one of New York's Senatorial seats with all of the graft allowed through campaign contributions. And Hubble's daughter was given several high paying jobs doing nothing.
No. The Clintons have never been dead broke since getting on the political gravy train. But they've always been deadbeats!
Speaking of ‘Pardon Me,’ what about all those Presidential Pardons Hillay had her two brothers ‘broker’ in the last couple of months of their occupancy of the White House?
The Marc Rich one alone would have paid for several homes...
Dead broke because they were in debt, Their debts were more than their assets. Big deal, by their criteria just about anyone who buys a house becomes instantly dead broke.
It’s like Crazy Joe Biteme claiming he is poor folk.
His family owned vast holdings in the old Amoco Oil Company. When BP bought out Amoco, the money came flowing...
Remember, there were a LOT of very rich benefactors in the Northeast liberal crowd ready to help them out, and I believe Hillary was about to sign to get a huge advance for the book Living History.
