Pentagon: Young Adults Too Fat, Tattooed, Uneducated for Military
Newsmax ^ | June 28, 2014 | Sandy Fitzgerald

The American military is facing a serious personnel issue: More than two-thirds of today's youth are too uneducated, have behavior issues, and are not physically fit enough for service.

"We're trying to make decision makers see this is a national-security matter — and they need to prioritize it," retired Maj. Gen. Allen Youngman told The Wall Street Journal.

Unless they're gay. Then, by all means, make allowances.

My sister was in the OSI when some politician thought up “Project 100,000.” (In the late ‘60’s I think.) Boys were given a choice by judges, go to jail or join the military. She said it might have helped a few, but most became huge problems to the military justice system and were eventually discharged at huge expense to the military.

the people coming across the border need size 6x underwear (from a previous article- true story) and if you read The Bell Curve ( please don’t because it’s racist and evil) they have a mid-range IQ score of 80. Gee, I wonder why we can’t form an army anymore. it’s one of those mysteries. I guess we will never figure it out.

These findings are hard to reconcile with something I saw in the Meadowlands Flea Market here in NJ months ago: a pair of the new digital camouflage pants, with an elastic waistband/pouch to accomodate a pregnant “soldier”. One of my young sons with me at the time found it bizarre as well; downright creepy...

There are a lot of teenagers coming illegally into the US from central America. One can't help but wonder if a lot of them will end up in the US military as a condition for citizenship.

The future with a military that has no loyalty to US citizens can't be a good thing.

(I don't have any facts....just trying to think like a DC globalist sleaze)

We unleashed them on the people of South Vietnam first. Heck, a decade ago we were overlooking felonies to send troops to Iraq and Afghanistan. Now we’re badgering them about tattoos...

As Colonel Kurtz said in “Apocalypse Now”: “We tell them to drop fire on people, but won’t let them write “F&%#” on their airplanes because it’s obscene...”

29% of our youth is more than enough to fulfill our needs. The problem is who wants to serve. Why join, get sent to some third world dump to “nation build” for scumbag Muslims? Why join when they have chicken-shit ROE’s, gay and Muslim equality training, and other nonsense?

“To extrapolate to the civilian jobs market, the same conditions prevail. Jobs go begging because the quality of applicants is unacceptable”

The military is simply creating screens to limit applicants; they are the “employer of last resort” for so many young people now, but the sad reality is that after losing the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan we simply don’t need them. People have proposed work programs like the CCC or WPA to address the unemployment; while that is debated the military is simply serving as those programs.

There is no indication that the American lives squandered in those “wars” accomplished anything at all; we lost (and our “enemies” rule both now).

This excerpt never got much coverage and has dropped completely off the public’s radar. To me, it says everything one needs to know about Obama, how he thinks and where he wants to go; from Obama speech saying, “We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well funded.”

All this PC crap is getting out of hand. I volunteered for the draft in 1965. I was concerned because I was overweight with flat feet. There was no problem, I was listed as “normal weight”. The test for flat feet was to slip a piece of paper under the arch. We had a short basic training cycle of only 6 weeks, I lost over 50 pounds and passed the physical fitness test. I picked up my first tattoo in Viet Nam (sát cộng). I acquired more in Okinawa and here in the States. When I retired in 1986 I had over 20. I also worked with three soldiers with prison records. In Okinawa I was given a LCM 8, my crew was delivered straight from the stockade by MPs. It was a great crew. The boat was sinking at the pier and I had one week to get it ready for work. I arranged to have it lifted to blocks and the holes and thin rusted spots patched. The crew had the hull scraped and pained, the engines and hydraulics tuned. We were ready. That crew would follow me anywhere, we even sailed in typhoons.

I'd never seen that excerpt before. It's astounding to what degree Obama has told us what his plans for the future are, yet nothing gets in the way of implementing this agenda.

It's global. It's playing out more like the Illuminati-elite globalist-banking conspiracies of old than as having any similarity to what's written in the history books and fed to us as news.

At this point, we don't need 'em. However, in an emergency lots of allowances could be made. You could certainly ignore the tattoos easily enough. You could have a pre-boot camp for the out of shape folks. And as for IQ, methinks there are still some jobs in the today's military that could be done with an IQ of 80.

When I was in, I served with quite a few young men that weren’t citizens but were in the process of getting their citizenship. They seemed as committed as the rest of the guys, and more committed that some subgroups that were born and raised in this country.

We served in combat together and off hand, I can recall dozens of people gaming the system or committing outright fraud trying to get out of combat but none of them were the ones that were seeking citizenship.

I’m really getting saddened by the tattoos.. That’s not the right word.,

My sister and I went to this gorgeous wedding a few weeks ago which I know must have set the bride and groom back a lot of money.

The bride had on a standard strapless dress, and during the service she had s little caplet which covered her cleavage. All the maids had the same thing.

We get to the reception, and the bride and most of her maids were coverd chest tattoos and back tattoos. IMHO, they made the dresses look cheap, and I really think they made the girls less beautiful.

I’m only mentioning it because this is the first time I’m noticing girls in NJ are evolving from tramp stsmps to major stuff.

I wonder how they will feel when they are 60 or older with their inked bodies,

When you were in the military? I suspect that until not too long ago, non-citizen recruits had for the most part wanted a ticket to US citizenship and integrating. These new groups on the whole don’t even speak English, and they won’t have connections to communities. They’ll be likely to do what the feds tell them to do.

Much has been said about "You cannot impose a military dictatorship in the US, the military is full of patriots who would not allow it".

The solution to that is to replace the patriots with people who hate white, Christian, middle-class America.

“... the sad reality is that after losing the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan we simply don’t need them. People have proposed work programs like the CCC or WPA to address the unemployment; while that is debated the military is simply serving as those programs.”

The saddest subsection of reality is that the American public believes Great Britain lost its war in Afghanistan (circa 1898).

The same logic applies to American defeats in Southeast Asia, Afghanistan, and Iraq. Minus any hard-headed calculation of the national interest, or any but the feeblest actions in support of same.

And there’s more news: the CCC was organized and run by the War Dept - in sum, by the US Army. So the military was doing duty as the employer of last resort some decades before any “prison or draft” choice confronted the little offenders of the 1960s. Any such initiative might not fare so well these days: half a century on, soldiering has been transformed and demands different abilities.

I personally have never understood the attraction of tattoos, but never thought much of them when people had them in places where they wouldn’t be seen when wearing normal clothing (which I believe is the military requirement now). Nowadays it seems like a competition for “freak of the year”, with facial/neck tattoos and such; I can’t believe that some people aren’t tattoooing themselves out of whole sectors of the workplace with them. I recall seeing something where people described an “addiction” to getting tattoos; I see them more as a sign of boredom by people experiencing feelings of being inconsequential or going through mid-life crises (a female co-worker in her 50s with a tramp-stamp was just sad...).

I just don’t get it; I’m not hip or cool (and proud to be neither).

"This excerpt never got much coverage and has dropped completely off the public's radar."

That's because the except was taken out of context. And contrary to what you say, it got a lot of coverage/promotion in the right wing media. But it never got any traction because any second grader could see it was phony mis-info.

And if you examine the totality of what Obama was saying, most people agree with Obama. The notion that the US can successfully implement a foreign policy based largely on military intervention has been proven to be false and absurd.

Not only does it not work, it costs huge sums of money and kills/maims many Americans.

“The same logic applies to American defeats in Southeast Asia, Afghanistan, and Iraq. Minus any hard-headed calculation of the national interest, or any but the feeblest actions in support of same.”

If the purpose was to simply kill more of them than we lost, I guess we won all three. There is no other formula by which any of the three is a victory.

“the CCC was organized and run by the War Dept - in sum, by the US Army. So the military was doing duty as the employer of last resort some decades before any “prison or draft” choice confronted the little offenders of the 1960s. Any such initiative might not fare so well these days: half a century on, soldiering has been transformed and demands different abilities.”

Sure; they were preparing an adult population for soldiering for the coming war. I’m not even criticizing the role today, just explaining why they can be picky. The money to keep the workfare going is running out, so some of the chaff has to be separated from the wheat (and apparently tattoos and weight overlooked ten years ago are the indicators now).

You are correct, although in the military they were called “McNamara’s 100,000”. Every one of them came in as undesignated strikers, ie, E-1 with no training beyond boot camp. They were used to wash airplanes, sweep decks, and they were expected to work hard. If they wanted to advanvce they had to “strike” for a particular job. Most didn’t. Large numbers of them ended up in trouble and discharged under other than honorable conditions. At the time I never dreamed they would end up running the country....

not physically fit enough for service.

Not an issue, of itself.

Given sufficient desire to serve, start a pre-Boot Camp to get them into shape.

For most 18 year olds, two months would be plenty. Assuming decent health, as opposed to fitness.

I used to go on backpacking trips up to two weeks. Astonishing the improvement in general fitness, even in such a short time.

I see the current govt. bringing in large numbers of South and Central Americans (Catholic) and the large number of Moslems (Islamic) in to the US to lay the foundation of social unrest in various parts of the nation, while those born here go about their lives staring at their latest iPhone or Droid - while the govt takes advantage and seizes control of a once free nation....this is not conspiracy, but fact!

Why else do the force movement into once pre-set areas of the nation...they will take the jobs from US Citizens or deplete the social welfare system like they are doing in England and France - and when the time is right (or someone whispers in their ear) they will launch forth setting afire everything in their way - and the hero of the day? Oh wait - it’s the US govt.

It’s a “Wag the Dog” moment and it is being set presently!

Things aren’t much better here in PA. A few weeks ago, I went to an amusement park that I hadn’t been to for the better part of a decade, and everywhere you looked, there were people covered with tattoos and piercings from top to bottom. Plenty of them were smokers as well. They toted around sickly kids who looked like they’d taken a backseat to Mom and Dad’s destructive habits.

Part of me wonders if this is the byproduct of the self-entitled, all-about-me mentality: that people are so desperate for attention that they’ll do anything - including anything to themselves - to get noticed or fit in.

I don’t know what causes people to disfigure themselves, but it certainly doesn’t make me think well of them.
