What Actress Amy Adams Did For One Of Our Soldiers Was Pretty Cool
Townhall.com ^ | June 29, 2014 | Doug Giles

Posted on 06/29/2014 8:02:11 AM PDT by Kaslin

It’s Friday afternoon and I’ve just sat down to write my column. I’ve got my Safari Cigar .500Nitro Toro blazing and a nice, ice-cold Angry Orchard sitting next to me at an outdoor dive bar in Miami.

As God would have it, in His sovereignty, He’s blessed me with a little corner at this establishment away from a group of deranged and roomy, over-tatted chicks yelling at the horse races they’re watching via a big screen TV while they swill down buckets of Ultra Lite beer. I know. Go figure, eh?

Anyway, all things are good and I’m ready to unleash my brutal prose on some jacked up stuff Obama has done/is doing to intentionally derail this unique and grand experiment in self government.

However, in this brief window that I have to write I’m finding it a wee bit difficult to fix my dancing crosshairs on a particular target because BHO’s been a busy boy and his BS is plenteous and dizzying. What’s a crotchety writer to do with the tyranny of so many options?

Doing what I normally do when I get mired down, I go shopping on gunsinternational.com and then I checked some of my favorite news feeds to see what was happening now. Lo and behold … I found a nugget that grabbed my attention that had nada to do with how Hussein and is ilk are gutting our country. It was actually something positive, dare I say touching, that grabbed my attention.

Check it out: Golden-Globe-winning, Oscar-nominated actress Amy Adams, made the news Friday by quietly and classily giving up her first-class seat to a soldier on a flight. This stunned me because most actors in Hollywood work their butts off and visit many a casting couch to get a first-class seat tucked away from the cattle in coach. Truth be told, so do a lot of conservative pundits that I’ve had the misfortune to meet in my foray into this field.

Now, granted Miss Amy didn’t sell everything she had to work with lepers in India, but in a day where our troops are crapped on by the VA, slighted by our President and dissed or misrep’ed repeatedly by Hollywood, I found her simple act of respect a beautiful stab in the right direction in our rank day.

Miss Adams was not only classy in giving up her first class seat to one of our warriors, but she also didn’t pimp out her good deed on Instagram with a selfie as some Kardashian stunt to solicit high praise for a staged act. Matter of fact, we wouldn’t even know about what she had done had not ESPN’s Jemele Hill recognized her, watched the seat exchange go down and then tweeted about it.

What Adams did was old school stuff folks. It’s called honor. It’s called respect. It’s called knowing your place in the pecking order of life and through an act of kindness giving those who have afforded us the wherewithal to live in this amazing land a little bit of the luxury their efforts have afforded us.

I’d like to thank Miss Amy for her grace and may God help us to follow her lead.

I do not do movies any more and fr damn sure avoid most of the current crop of movie “stars”. but I will be adding Amy Adams to my very short of "Good Guy List". Along side of Ann Margaret. Beautiful women in their prime earning years that go above and beyond for the troops, without making damn sure there is a camera to record it.
Thank you Miss Adams.

She gave up her first class seat to a soldier? Well, there goes her career and that’s no joke. Look at the careers of James Woods and Gary Sinise, both ardent supporters of our vets - Their careers are completely shot. The facist commie rat pig bastards in Hollywood don’t like it when our vets are supported.

Ever notice how many of these Hollywood types start doing this kind of thing or making somewhat conservative type statements shortly after working with Christian Bale? Hmmmmm.

Sinise, just last year, wrapped up a five year CSI run....so I’d say he’s still got a career.

Is Christian Bale a conservative? I have no idea. I do know he's one of the most talented actors working and in my opinion, has become the Robert De Niro of his generation, an actor who dives so deeply into his roles that you forget it's him on screen.

Good for her. She didn’t blare her good deed like the NBA withe their obnoxious self advertising on their “NBA Cares” program.

While the first class upgrade I'm sure was nice, I'll bet the Soldier would've really been happy if the lovely Ms. Adams had traded seats with whoever was setting next to him!

Nonetheless, class act all the way.

Yeah but that’s TV, his movie career is all but kaput. The past 10 years all he’s done is TV and video games while little leftist turds like Al Gore pet Leonardo DiCrapio or commies like Sean Penn get one freakin’ A list $200 million buck budget movie after another. Look at Alec Baldwin, even after using gay slurs and black slurs, the guy STILL gets movies. Why? Because he constantly promotes the leftist agenda.

He was awesome in 3:10 to Yuma. In fact, he was so good that I always consider him a disappointment in any role he plays other than a dusty, down-on-his-luck rancher. LOL.

Reminds me of Ann Margret. She was always doing something for “her boys”.

FYI, this is common though perhaps not routine behaviour for us frequent fliers who get upgrades.

I fly 4 weeks out of five and see this happen; have done it myself. It’s REALLY easy to do if you fly in/out of San Antonio where Fort Sam is.

Always nice to do when one can.

The thing I like best about this story is that she did her kind act in anonymity. Not so she could brag to others about how kind she is. An altruistic act.

Who got the best deal? The guy who got to move to first class or the guy she ended up sitting next to?

I didn’t like the article. Mainly because he kept calling it an act of respect when in fact it’s an act of gratitude.

And the product placement add for Angry Orchard clumsily inserted into the op-ed.

“facist commie rat pig bastards” has a kind of poetic lilt to it. I like it.

If I were the serviceman assigned to a seat in coach, and Amy Adams came and offered me her seat in 1st class, I would ask her if she would trade with the person next to me instead.

I’d much rather sit in coach and talk with Amy Adams, than move to first class.

Absolutely! Jesus always put it in perspective for me since I was young. The verse below talks about giving - but it applies to any good deed.

Matthew 6:2-4

New International Version (NIV)

2 “So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 3 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

She was cute as Lois Lane in Man of Steel. I enjoyed her with Clint Eastwood in Trouble With The Curve. She plays his daughter. Did a good job.

Check out Christian Bale in The Fighter with Mark Wahlburg and the classy Amy Adams. Based on a true story. Bale is virtually unrecognizable. LOVE this movie!

I’ve done this three times myself. I’m sure quite a few frequent fliers do this every day, just quietly and without fanfare.

I have begun to suspect he is a closeted conservative and not only that, but a highly persuasive one as well.
