The recent spike in gas prices will make the July 4 holiday weekend the most expensive for drivers since 2008.
According to USA Today, prices will average $3.68 a gallon for regular-grade gas, up 17 cents from last year. That is still below the record price of $4.11 at the pump just after July 4, 2008.
The continuing fears over the political unrest in Iraq have seen crude oil prices rising, causing an unseasonably early summer run-up on retail gas prices, the paper reports.

Sorry, but here in California (leading the country as it were), gas prices are already above $4.11 in some locales. But then again, we have that “special gasoline” that costs more because it has some “special ingredients” to make it burn cleaner, not!

This can actually be good for local economies. Spending less on gas, less time in the car, and more time enjoying things closer to home helps the economy. It helps neighborhoods.
Cheney’s fault!
It was actually $3.30 near me yesterday.
go just 10 miles south, and it’s $3.84
