New Orleans Police say nine people have been injured during a shooting on Bourbon Street.
Police spokesman Frank Robertson says in a statement that the incident happened about 2:45am Sunday in the 700 block of Bourbon Street. He says the unidentified victims were taken to a hospital, where seven were listed in stable condition and a female was listed in critical condition.

Want to know what locals think? The French Quarter is the Alamo- surrounded by violent criminals intent on preying on everyone inside. There is only ONE way the main tourist area of N.O. can be saved( temporarily at least). Treat it like Disneyworld-control who enters. It’s a ten square block area. Wall/cordon it off- have weapons checks of EVERYONE entering. If the thugs are ‘free’ to walk the streets at least make sure they aren’t armed. Charging $1 admission would be better-but if no one has the guts to be un-PC and simply say gangs of black teens have no business in the Quarter at all- at least make sure they don’t have guns. Local media is worried that this MIGHT scar tourism, it MIGHT discourage people from coming and make them think it’s dangerous. People-New Orleans is totally dependent on tourist dollars- and it wants your money, even if it means you risk your life spending it. It’s criminal, it’s predatory and IF you come you MUST face that the tourist areas here are islands in a decaying, crime-ridden city. The thugs own the streets and they know it. They fear nothing. You are not ‘safe’ anywhere. No locals I know-and we grew up here- set foot in N.O.for any reason. This doesn’t happen in Jefferson parish-because it is not primarily black, low class and criminal. Stay out of the jungle- you are MEAT!
