The first delivery of Russian Sukhoi fighter jets arrived in Iraq on Saturday, the country’s Defense Ministry said. Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki is hoping the jets will make a key difference in the fight against ISIS.
The Iraqi Ministry of Defense on Sunday confirmed receiving five Su-25 fighter jets in accordance with the deal with Moscow. The jets were delivered by a Russian An-124 transport plane in a dismantled state, and are expected to be set up and become operational within 3-4 days.
“The Sukhoi Su-25 is an air-ground support and anti-terrorism mission aircraft. In these difficult times, we are in great need of such aircraft. With God’s help, we will be able to deploy them to support our ground forces on a mission against the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant militants within the next 3-4 days,” Iraqi Army Lieutenant General Anwar Hamad Amen Ahmed told RT’s Ruptly news agency at an airport receiving the jets.
According to Ahmed, Iraq will wage a “massive attack” on insurgents with the help of the jets.

Iraqi government officials said Sunday that Russian experts had arrived in Iraq to help the army get 12 new Russian warplanes into the fight against Sunni extremists, while the extremists declared their leader the caliph, or absolute ruler, of all jihadi organizations worldwide.
The Russian move was at least an implicit rebuke to the United States, which the Iraqis believe has been too slow to supply American F-16s and attack helicopters — although sales of such warplanes are now in process.
“In the coming three or four days the aircraft will be in service to support our forces in the fight” against the insurgents of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, said Gen. Anwar Hama Ameen, the commander of the Iraqi Air Force, referring to five SU-25 aircraft that were flown into Iraq aboard Russian cargo planes Saturday night, and two more expected later Sunday.

What kind of ordinance was delivered what amount? All dressed up and no where to deliver?
To be clear, pilots that fly the A-10 are ‘fighter pilots,’ just as much as any pilot that flies the F-16. F/A-18, F-15, F-22, etc. Go into a bar full of fighter pilots and tell everyone that Hog Drivers are not fighter pilots and you will won’t get any back-up from the F-16/F-15/F-22/F/A-18 guys.
It is the Navy that makes a distinction between “attack” and “fighter.” The Air Force does not and besides, the A-10 carries heaters and has achieved A/A kills, too include one with a LGB.
All jets that drop bombs are CAS/’attack’ aircraft.

B-1’s fly CAS in Afghanistan, as do the F-15E and F-16, and F/A-18.
CAS is the close application of air power while under positive control. Low flying has to do with the threat, A/A threat, mostly. If we control the skies (no enemy air) and the SAMs are shut-down, why fly low to the ground when any Haji on the ground can shoot you? Don’t need to when you have accurate weapons.

For information, this is true because they never entered the fight, never attacked anybody. US troops on the ground were never under attack by ANY enemy air. Last time that US troops came under enemy aircraft fire was in Korea.

They have no MR pilots, none at all.
Jumping from one jet to another is not done, can’t be done, need all sorts of training, from ground school and systems knowledge to weapons, tactics and procedures. And with jets delivered with no trained pilots, and no AGE equipment, they make nice props for ramp photos but nothing else.
They don’t know how to start the jet, let alone fight with it.

I would have realized that I had f’d up royally and known that I could never regain the area now occupied by ISIS unless I had boots on the ground.
So what to do? No boots on the ground but I would support the Kurds and I would support whoever is in charge of Basra (export oil goes through Basra).
I would tell the Saudis (they’re passing kidney stones right now) to stop supporting terrorism and building mosques in my country and be veeeery nice to me or I’ll withdraw my protection. (See how fast ARAMCO personnel will haul a$$ and oil facilities come to a grinding halt).
Then I’ll sit back for the time being and see how the camel jockeys react and be ready for my next move. Of course I would’ve fired John F’n Kerry a long time ago and replaced him with Trey Gowdey or the mustachioed ex-ambassador to the UN and would have instructed them: “Go ahead, display all your balls because I will cover your butt from tip to toe.”

But I would've thought that, with delivery imminent, at least some Iraqi pilots would've cycled thru Sheppard AFB, then Holloman or Luke -- wherever F-16 training is conducted.
So, Iraq is buying their aircraft in kit form from "Jets Я Us". Is experience in 'paint by numbers' a requirement for those assembling these machines?

They are not flyable as they have no one that knows how to service, maintain, start the darned thing. It ain’t a key and the AGE equipment is beyond the iraqi dunderhead, let alone flying a F-16.
