Gallup poll: Confidence in Supreme Court falls to 30%

There was time when a majority of Americans were confident in their Supreme Court, but those positive feelings have been eroding in the last quarter of a century so that just 30% now say they have confidence in the institution, according to a Gallup poll.

The poll, released Monday, had good news and bad news for the high court, a unique institution that serves as a check and balance in the United States. People have more confidence in the court than in any other arm of government, but that may not be saying that much when confidence in the presidency stands at 29% and in the Congress at 7%.

Judges on the Supreme Court are appointed for life and, unlike members of Congress or the president, do not have go through the rigors of elections. But as national attitudes change on controversial issues including abortion, racial segregation and same-sex marriage, so too does the legal system’s response. The Supreme Court may not  follow polls, but changing attitudes can have an impact.

We know what the ruling will be now that they have struck down DOMA. Kennedy is a snake.

“The poll, released Monday, had good news and bad news for the high court,”

And people appointed for life should give 2 s*its in what way again?

Exactly, it was taken before these decisions, but I’m sure the LAT knows its core audience well, and won’t bother to note that to them.

When this paper reports Obama’s low poll numbers, wake me up.

That’s what I thought too. The SC polls these numbers after CommieCare and other unpopular decisions, but before the decisions today.

The Left is ultimately unhappy about not having its will forced upon the citizens.

In the final analysis, the Left is about force, and Conservatives are about independence and free will.

That wasn’t a fumble. Supreme Court Jester Roberts deliberately grabbed the ball and scored a touchdown for the Stalinists.

As always. The left’s prime directive “control the individual, destroy the individual”

The Supreme Court is THE most partisan and political body in the country, and probably always has been.

The results of this poll would not have been released today except for the fact the rulings went against the Left.

"Obama has got all the liberals hating the court"

And The Won is pushing the LIVs in that direction as hard as he can. Comes the Revolution, he wants as many allies and as few enemies as possible.

Maybe we should only allow people who have had prefontal lobotomies on the USSC to be certain that they are free from partisan politics.

Or, perhaps, they could try sticking to interpreting the Constitution as constructed; rather than making up new laws as they go along.

Obamacare was the final nail, never again can a world in which they be respected for anything other than the illegitimate, indeed criminal force of the Gun they still weld exist among patriots.

The Federal employees in black robes have firmly and permanently abandoned written law in-favor of the ever shifting dictates of their own political passions.

No man’s liberty or property is safe while they are in session, and thus no man can legitimately respect them as anything but tyrannical dictators.

criminally illegitimate power of force they weld be compatible with the notions of Constitutionally limited or even written government of free men.

Without law there can be no liberty, and thus while this self-proclaimed ‘court’ exist without written and consented to bounds no man is free.

This isn’t a ‘court’ its a body of political edict makers. courts follow actual written law not ideological passions.
