Perceived widespread corruption in U.S. government on the rise

Fewer Americans are satisfied with the freedom to choose what they do with their lives compared with seven years ago -- dropping 12 percentage points from 91% in 2006 to 79% in 2013. In that same period, the percentage of Americans dissatisfied with the freedom to choose what they do with their lives more than doubled, from 9% to 21%.

I don’t think debate has anything to do with it. People are being crushed under Big Government.

We are 31 spots behind Uzbekistan and 33 spots behind Cambodia.

OK, but that does match TEA party message and Obama is holding to theme that government is a force for good.

Look at the other poll question on the Gallup page:

Among Americans, perceptions of widespread corruption in their government have been generally increasing over the past seven years.

It’s gone from 59% to 79%.

Yeah, I hated moving out of my Mommy’s house at 15 but, she couldn’t tell me what to do anymore and I was free to make my own decisions....

That 12% is not so cutely close to the 1 in 9 scotus votes on such important constitutional issues. One mo time is all the clown needs.

Too many people have forgotten why our ancestors came to this country in the first place. Too many people don’t appreciate freedom until they have lost it. Too many people take our freedom for granted. We are headed toward a tyrannical government and too many can’t see it happening.

“Freedom has its life in the hearts, the actions, the spirit of men and so it must be daily earned and refreshed — else like a flower cut from its life-giving roots, it will wither and die. ~Dwight D. Eisenhower”

I read that article several times and still have no idea what it means. I don’t even understand the question. Does it mean people want to be free and don’t think they are? Or does it mean people aren’t happy being free and would trade less freedom for more econmic security? Or is it simply an indication that people think government is corrupt and inefficent?

That’s our key problem IMO, tunnel vision.
Too many people here have not a clue what goes on in the rest of the world, nor do they care.

You’d only have to spend a short amount of time talking to legal immigrants about why they came here to understand how exceptional and how blessed we are.

To some extent this makes sense. As the demonic-rats see the results of their choices and the consequences of their actions; perhaps it would be better to have other people make decisions for you.
At least then you can bitch about it without being a hypocrite.

I think its just due to the advancement of the police state. People are finally waking up and seeing that its affecting them personally now not somebody else.

"I read that article several times and still have no idea what it means."

I used to belong to multiple polling groups and have quit bothering to respond for very similar reasons. Most questions posed by most of the organizations I responded to had questions designed so that in and of themselves the questions meant nothing and regardless of the outcome were open to corrupt manipulation. The remaining organizations rigged the questions so that the only answers possible would result in an unwanted outcome.

It became quite obvious that I was being used by these organizations in a Persuasion propaganda campaign. I don't have enough background in the subject to correctly assign the correct theory and method but, I nonetheless recognized the reality of "polling". Im sure a marketing specialist around here could correct/comment at length.

The gist of the point is that polling, all forms of polling, are nothing more than manipulations and the answers derived from them should never be admitted to your mind as factoids of any value regardless of the source of the information propaganda.

Whatever it meant, it got worse since Obama took over. Most of the places that rate highly have the four freedoms FDR talked about: speech, worship, want ,fear
