In May, Americans were horrified by the scandal enveloping the Veterans Administration and the media seemed to agree. World News anchor Diane Sawyer denounced the secret lists and substandard care as a "national outrage." But as the story grew and evolved in June, ABC, CBS and NBC seem to have already moved past the "outrage." In June, the networks allowed a scant 30 minutes, compared to 180 minutes in May. This is a drop of 84 percent.

According an analysis by the Media Research Center, ABC devoted 28 minutes in May to the VA controversy, but only five in June. CBS offered 78 minutes in May, but only 11 the following month. NBC's coverage dropped off a cliff in June, falling from 73 minutes to just ten. Journalists lost interest in the story even as big developments kept occurring. Among the examples:

Scandal fatigue has set in. People are no longer surprised or fascinated by the level of corruption revealed. It has become the “new norm”, neither to be considered further for its impact, nor its immediate shock value.

When in doubt, do the right thing. As the Current Regime is beyond all trepidation as to the outcome of their machinations, they are no longer bound by that admonition.

They can be as bad as they want, who will call them to account for it?

The media, in general, has become “Short Attention Span Theater”. They will pounce on the latest news, saturate the marketplace with coverage, and drop it the instant a new story comes along that might have more appeal. “Investigations” are cursory, and not fully developed before they drop the story. Journalism is a total joke.

True. The media seems accepting of Obama’s protesting that he learns of things by reading the newspaper or watching the news, and that he will get to the bottom of things, etc.

It makes you wonder. Would the media be as forgiving of a Republican president who was so clueless about what was going on in his own administration?

Would the media accept and move on, if Bush had said he learned of something happening in his administration from watching TV news??? Can you imagine the comedians having a field day with that one?

But since the media have to protect Obama, they accept that he doesn’t know what is happening in his administration, and that is okay.

But come election time our local PBS station will do what we call “Watergate Week” where they trot out every anti right wing program they can and worship their god FDR.

No way. They would go after them like they did Nixon and Watergate. Wait until the general election campaign starts. The media will suddenly be looking under every rock for any hint of scandal by the GOP candidate. They will be relentless and they will pursue every story. Madcow Maddow said the GOP candidate will learn what vetting is all about.

The press (tv) is a visual medium. Until there’s a million veteran march on DC they won’t pay much attention. I would participate if one gets organized.

A huge veteran march would probably be treated as a minor story for a day, if that.

Abu Ghraib was 36 days in a row on the FRONT PAGE of the NY Times. 47 times in total - and nobody died there.

Benghazi was once on the front page. 4 died there.
VA scandal - dozens if not hundreds dead.
These other scandals were once or never on the front page.
