Cochran campaign denies vote-buying reports
Clarion Ledger | July 1, 2014 | By Geoff Pender

Posted on 07/01/2014 12:08:30 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

Can't post Gannett material per their copyright complaint, but according to this article, it appears that the Cochran campaign is claiming they were only paying the get out the vote workers (in cash) and were not directly buying votes.

So they admit handing out green-money-cash?

Oh boy. There are laws against that too.

Were their workers required to buy 0bamacare? Pay Taxes? Withholding? Social Security? Independent Contractors on 1099s?

Vote buying or not there is still no excuse for the manner in which this disgusting slug conducted his runoff campaign.

So they admit the money came from them and that the vote-buying did take place.

Whether or not these charges are true we already know it was a slimy election and its the illegal Democrat primary voters showing up in the Republican runoff that appear to hold the greatest promise for having the election thrown out-discrediting it..

Looks like to me pretty much everything we've been hearing since yesterday is true and the bastards are caught red handed with them admitting this.

Can't even call this a weak attempt at denial, total fail.

The $15 envelopes.

Who prepared those envelopes? Who oversaw the preparation of the envelopes? Where did people sign in that they received cash?

Lot of questions...

McDaniel, ya gotta keep digging. Once cash is afoot....follow the money!!! That money, it appears, was laundered to buy votes!!! I can assure you, you will get some feedback from the Obamabot, Democrat, druggies....they’d vote for Satan for fifteen bucks!!! Offer them another fifteen bucks to rat out the Cochran low life!!! This run-off election was stolen by the Republican Establishment and Democrat thugs and criminals.

Saying that they were only paying to get out voters is almost the same excuse in which the liberals use when they are caught red-handed in wrong doing. It’s the establishment mentality. I hope McDaniel follows legal action for a run off. He has most common sense supporters behind him.

Me too. I think this little fact is what broke the dam with Rush and Hannity. If I were in their shoes I would have a staffer look into the charge and beg off addressing the issue with a “We’ll get back to you on that”.

Hmm.

These two pictures of the Reverend's text messages (one message, two parts) would seem (on the surface) to corroborate Cochran's claim because the staffer is asking for individual names and home addresses. That would indicate they were paying get-out-the-vote (GOTV) workers because they would need that information for the campaign's FEC paperwork.

However, the Reverend has stated that he personally handed out hundreds or thousands of envelopes containing $15 each to voters as they were going in to vote. So, lets examine that.

Cochran's campaign would need to report the name and address of GOTV workers they paid. They would have no reason to avoid asking for those names/addresses via text message. That's a logical explanation for those two texts. It's a good legal cover for what was really going on.

Back to the Reverend. He and anyone he authorized to hand out money for votes would be considered GOTV workers. So to cover their tails, all Cochran and Staff have to do is deny that they did anything other than pay GOTV workers. Their campaign cash-out expenses will show only the amounts paid to GOTV workers. The money that went to individual voters will not show up anywhere. That money came from other people/accounts.

Cochran and company set up a pretty good legal cover for themselves. They didn't count on the GOTV workers outting them. So this will all come down to the credibility and claims of the Reverend and other GOTV workers who were handing out the cash.

They were sly, buy not quite sly enough.

See post 33. There is no need to dismiss those texts. They provide near perfect legal cover for GOTV claims.

It is suspicious, but it’s a good cover. Of course they were buying votes, but they weren’t stupid enough to send text messages about doing so. Those messages are asking for the names & addresses of everyone that the Reverend had out on the streets passing out money at polling stations. They are the so-called GOTV workers. It’s not illegal to pay them. What’s illegal is having them pay individual voters.

Cochran thinks he’s gonna get away with saying he had no knowledge that his GOTV workers were buying votes. He’s made sure that money is off the books.

Well, it’s pretty damn sick that a so-called Republican Senator would hire democrat workers to get out the democrat vote in a REPUBLICAN primary! What a slimy POS this corrupt, pork-loving cochroach is.

And the GOP for going along with it? FreepU GOPe! Slimy RINO bastards!! They deserve to freaking lose. Who would want these corrupt bastards in office? Cochran is nothing but a senile puppet of the GOPe RINO machine anyway. Screw them.

- GOPe gets in bed with Democrats to smear a conservative and win a primary.

- Same Democrats now turn on the GOPe winner that paid them and destroy him using an all too willing media to help.

- Democrat wins the seat in the general election.

- Smooth move Messrs Rove and Barbour.

I found the basis for another theory. The GOTV volunteers for a campaign are supposed to get the name and address of every person with whom they speak while they (the volunteers) are out canvassing door-to-door.

The campaign staffer responsible for GOTV activities then enters those names/addresses in the Campaign’s database(s) of supporters.

What we need to know is whether or not The Reverend collected those names because if he did’t collect the names, that might explain why the campaign refused to pay him for his canvassing activities.

JR/Syncro - Do either of you feel like going to MS with me for some FR-style investigation? I might could talk pen into going with us.
