Posted on 07/01/2014 7:32:24 PM PDT by equalator
A Vietnam Veteran was attacked at a Columbia County convenience store Monday. He said he was in line to buy water after a run, but investigators say another customer was way out of line when he punched him.
After fighting for our county for 21 years, Jacob Cooter, 77, said he knows a thing or two about a fair fight.
"For the man to sucker punch me, he's kind of a coward," Cooter said. "The man was maybe a foot taller than me and a 100 pounds more," Cooter said. "He had no business hitting an old fella."

"For the man to sucker punch me, he's kind of a coward," Cooter said
Welcome to Barack Hussein Obama’s “fundamentally transformed” Amerika.
The puncher need not be described. Everybody knows.
I honestly believe one of the reasons illegals with unchecked diseases are being planted around the heart of the country is to kill off good men like Mr. Cooter in the above story. Biological Warfare.
Gee, appears to be an AA, what a surprise. The scumbag did turn himself in and alleged racist comments, which the store witness deny they heard. Odumbo would be proud!
Turned himself in. As (not) described. http://www.wrdw.com/home/headlines/Man-accused-of-hitting-Vietnam-vet-turns-himself-in-265430931.html
Well, that was my first question.
“Way out of line”. That’s one way to describe it, I suppose.
What difference does it make that he’s a vet? Would it be less outrageous if a non vet got sucker punched?
He’s a good man. That’s why it’s worse. A man who should be honored.
Only veterans are good men in your world?
I’ve been having that same thought a lot lately.
they’re not good in yours? He sacrificed and this is how he is repaid. Just makes it more senseless.
No one deserves to be sucker punched. Veteran status has nothing to do with it.
This guy is named Cooter. Bet he’s had his share of ribbing....
happy 4th of July
Same back at ya.
Did they fill out a TPS report? If so, I hope they used the right cover letter.
Sorry...couldn't help myself.
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
DmanA, it's VERY simple. You enlist, you have no idea what might happen. You might spend your term of service stateside in peacetime, but you also might be alerted in the dead of night that you're being shipped out to some dangerous locale. You have volunteered to, if need be, die for your country. But you have made that choice. It's a choice a lot of us never chose to make. Those that did, deserve our ultimate respect.
Well, if he had punched a politician, would that have been worse or better? There are differences in who it is.
No there isn’t.
That name Cooter reminds me of something. When I was a kid growing up in NW Florida, we called turtles “cooters”.
We also called the car trunk, the “cooter hull”. I have not heard that expression in a long time. I wonder if anyone else used that term?
That is interesting... So you would not make any judgement on who was hit and why? Strange reaction I’d say. I tend to make judgements on all of these things, who, why, and what the hell were they thinking...
You must be one of those enlightened fellows that takes no stances either way. Let the world do their own thing, but don’t involve me in any way...geez! You are one grand fellow!
Really, you think the punishment for a crime should depend upon who the victim is?
This is an alien and anti-American idea. Did you ever wonder why the statue of Justice was blindfolded? Did it ever occur to you to think about it?
I think if the victim was an elderly man or a child then the punishment should be stronger. In other words hitting a more vulnerable person should carry a higher price.
I guess technically the fact he was a vet should not affect the punishment.
So, to your thinking, you should not stop a thief or stop any crime in progress because of who the victim is?
You are not really being serious here...
You always have to take action depending upon the circumstances but according to you, not necessarily so.
Please...clarify your position. Blind justice has nothing to do with citizens reaction to crimes in progress.
You turned my position on it’s head. I won’t speculate on your motive.
My position is it doesn’t matter who the perp is, doesn’t matter who the victim is. All that matters is the facts of the crime.
That is the fundamental basis of American justice.
Would you do your best to protect a woman? Is that misogynist? Would you jump in to protect your brother?
What are your limits? How would you protect them for the justice system? Just where are your boundaries?
You are changing the subject.
Sorry, but our justice system does take into account the gender of the victim, the age, and the reason of the assault. That is fact so why don’t we?
All of this is always taken into consideration and so should we when countering assaults by those that could care less.
You are wrong. Assault is assault. Same crime regardless of the sex of the victim.
All the men of my generation were vets, all of them.
Some were pathetic losers.
You are trying to escape the ignorance of your earlier statements!
That is not true for subsequent generation. Thanks in part to the sacrifices of your generation.
Please show what I said that was ignorant.
“Really, you think the punishment for a crime should depend upon who the victim is?”
It not only does but has become a problem today in that females seem to get the benefit of the doubt! Actually, that also depend upon age (news helps here) but it does happen.
Not that I am supporting that but when attacking a vet occurs, it is normal for most folks to get upset (not the liberals of course).
I get upset when anyone gets attacked.
I don’t know what your beef is.
OBVIOUSLY veteran deserve our respect. That’s not what we are talking about. We are talking about a victim of a crime. I don’t think a Vet is less a victim or more a victim because of he’s a vet. So in the context of this discussion the victim’s veteran status is completely irrelevant.
In other contexts OF COURSE it’s relevant.
Well, I have to say that you are the better man for showing restraint and taking the non-confrontational way out...
You must be a good Vet... I also get upset when Vets get attacked! Have a good one...
I confronted you directly.
Yes you did, and wrongly I’d say, but you can have your own opinion... Have a good one...
Also you my friend.
Heh, well I would not go that far but you were at least not confusing about your stance - although wrong...ha. We all have our stances...
Disorderly conduct? Give me a break. This guy should be charged with more than that.
I’m not sure you still understand my stance. Justice should be blind.
Oh, I understand but you are blind to today’s reality! Maybe you should look at Obama’s justice department! We can agree that justice should be blind but it NEVER is...
These days it seem that the politicians in power can determine just who is blind...
I understand my point of view is old fashioned.
I would suggest you shouldn’t give up and just join them in the grab all for special interests.
“Only veterans are good men in your world?”
He didn’t say that. Why are you twisting his words?
Oh my, are you that ignorant of what is going on? Mercy, I give up on the ignorant folks that keep thinking that life as we use to know it is still happening...geez!
Sorry, but you are one of the few left that thinks that we are just in a bubble, nothing happening here, no changes..
You fellow have missed the happenings of the last few years and will only wake up after it is over...
Yes, you have the same old-fashioned view that I had until I finally woke up, but don’t understand your viewpoint. If you think that the special interests are going to take control, you should be clambering for a new election of different folks in charge. Don’t hear that at all...
You stupid folks keep voting for the same idiots that are bringing us into government control that we use to hate.
God save us from the liberal idiots!
That’s what he implied. Why are you defending him.
