KRAUTHAMMER: 'IF FENCES DON'T WORK, WHY IS THERE ONE AROUND THE WHITE HOUSE?'
Breitbart ^ | 7-2-14

Posted on 07/02/2014 12:28:23 AM PDT by kingattax

On Tuesday's broadcast of "The O'Reilly Factor," Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer gave his solution to the crisis at the southern United States border: a fence.

He argued that securing the border with a fence is a proven method and he pointed to other places where it has worked, including at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. in Washington, D.C.

"Alright, here's what I've been on for years," Krauthammer said. "You start with a fence. It's very simple. People say, 'Oh, fences don't work. You make a ladder.' Well, then you build two fences, triple strand fences. San Diego did that in the mid 90's and within a decade, the illegal immigration rate at that point was reduced by 90 percent and people ended up going through other places like Arizona."

"If fences don't work, why is there one around the White House?" he continued.

"If they don't work, why is it that the Israeli fence which separate Israel from the West Bank has cut down terror attacks within Israel by 99 percent. Fences work.

Yes, there are parts of the border where you can't have a fence, fine. So you don't have it in those areas and you do heavy patrols. But there is no reason why a rich country like us cannot put a fence across -- a double fence, a triple fence and patrol it all the time. That would have a tremendous impact."

A fence would not be a deterrent.

We must remove the incentive through criminal sanctions against employers and by removing benefits: welfare, housing, food stamps, education and health care.

The other issue is a welfare state that encourages the birth of children into unhealthy situations.

Bush had a chance after 9/11 to get a fence done. There was huge support. Literally millions crossed the border while Bush was president.

I still don't know who voted for Bush in the Republican primaries and why. We actually had a somewhat strong field.

Israel did not put up a fence .....they built a wall !
a HUGE wall , and we need one too .

Take every illegal border jumper apprehended and put them on forced labor crews building the very wall designed to keep them out . 50 ft. high ! , with sensors monitoring the ground underneath .

What good is a fence when you have a Marxist POTUS that is hellbent on polluting the once great USA with as many lowlife scum as he can find? Who is paying to bus them all over the country?

President Reagan told Gorbachev to tear down the fence. How has Germany recovered? Have the east Germans become as industrious as west Germans or are they still in commie-give-me mode? Just wondering because it could be the sociological answer to the liberal sociological agenda.

Maybe we could hire some old Soviet border guards to show us how it’s done.

Bush is one of those "compassionate" conservatives that thinks we all have to be nice and friendly and let everyone in. His brother Jeb is the same way.

And you can add the election of Obama to the list of things Bush can be blamed for. His poor leadership set the stage for the election of one of the most radical leftists ever in the White House.

If you picked Bush in the primaries the least you could do is say "sorry".

The Israeli wall is to keep out the terrorist murderers. What percentage of the illegal immigrants coming here are criminals, let alone mass murderers?

Don’t get me wrong, I am for enforcing immigration laws but your example is not relative.

Come to think of it, are the immigrants who are caught and the kids being transferred being given psych evaluations and lie detector tests? We absolutely have them in their home language.

Does anyone have any illegal immigration statistics that goes back to the sixties? When did the invasion begin?

yep. at it's core, this has nothing to do with mexicans. it is all about Welfare and socialism and the democratic party that seeks to spread both. You want us to support amnesty? OK. END ALL WELFARE and I'm quite sure you'll get all the support you need.

They were and are still Germans. That was Reagan’s point and it’s also the answer to your basic question since Germans are industrious in their basic nature. The German problem as regards immigration remains Third World, mostly Turkey.
