A Health and Human Services official refused to allow a member of Congress to enter a facility in his district where some one the unaccompanied immigrant children ae being housed.

Representative Jim Bridenstine (R., Okla.) was told he could schedule an appointment for July 21. ““What are they trying to hide?” Bridenstine said after the incident. ”Do they not want the children to speak with Members of Congress? As a Navy pilot, I have been involved in operations countering illicit human trafficking. I would like to know to whom these children are being released.”

There are 1,200 immigrant children at the base. Bridenstine’s office explained that HHS releases the children to a “sponsor” in the United States. The congressman said that a security guard at the Fort Sill, Okla., facility refused to let him enter the barracks without HHS approval even though he is a member of Congress.

The most transparent administration at it again.
I’m sure the LSM will be all over this just as though Bush had done the same to a Dummycrat congressman.

It seems the natural next step is to defy HHS and visit them anyway.

His arrest would make a nice press debacle for the administration.

We have an entrenched government cabal of employees and contractors in this government who exist for themselves - not for this country and to its benefit. True mercenaries loyal to the Empire’s Emperor only. If you see someone who works for IRS, HHS, DHS, ATF, et al, they are your natural enemies.

If this was at Ft. Silly, it is a military reservation. Different rules apply. The Sheriff doesn’t (I don’t think) have jurisdiction there.

Under what law?

Yes, that is the question of the day. Does anyone know the annual budget for HHS?

$1 TRILLION - 1/4 of the entire federal government budget, greater than the whole economy of most countries.

HHS bureaucracy itself is patently unconstitutional. The size and most activities of the entire federal government are patently unconstitutional.

So can something illegal do something legal?

The bloated government and it's most bloated bureaucracy have long since abandoned the idea of "legality" and have decided IT is the law.

Even Jonestown felt required to allow a Congressman onto their compound in a foreign country, though they also killed the Congressman. So Hussein’s bunch is more megalomaniacal than crazyJim Jones, even.

Well, then, up the game. The sheriff does have jurisdiction immediately outside the fort. Close access until compliance is achieved. Invest the place, in military parlance.

Local Sheriff probably not because its a Federal facility, i.e. Military base.

But that orange Oompa-Loompa idiot Speaker of the House certainly could.

But he won’t. they are running out the clock, 28? days now until recess before the elections.

The Congressman needs to go back to D.C. and start a bill to defund HHS and a formal investigation of all activity's on these military posts. If this is on a military base defund the military by 10% a month tell someone has a come to Jesus moment. The only problem is Congress has NO BALLS and we all know how to spell that. P U S S Y !

They're the modern equivalent of Rome's Praetorian Guard whose loyalty was to the Emperor alone. The modern Federal bureaucracy is a self-sustaining malignant growth on the body politic. It's bound together by public employee unions that use their tremendous financial muscle to elect politicians who'll give them more and more money and power. We have created a monster that now rules us.

Our career civilian government workforce is supposed to be apolitical, immune from the petty politics of extant administrations. However, the Democrats have covertly worked for generations to plant ideologues in this force. The State Department being the number one beneficiary.

Our ENTIRE government workforce is INFESTED with political operatives who work in one of three ways. 1)racial motivation, 2) political vehemence for right leaning people and organizations, and 3) actively solicit and receive direction from the Administration. They are all saboteurs.

As a Navy pilot, I have been involved in operations countering illicit human trafficking.

In my training, it is the law that a federal employee can be prosecuted for NOT reporting any suspected human trafficking.

Better yet come back with 3-4 additional congressmen and the sheriff.

If Congress had any stones which they don’t they would immedialtely cut off funding for HHS until they comply. No more paychecks.

Here is an opportunity for action. Will the Congressman take advantage? He should announce a return visit - forget appointments - on a date certain, how about tomorrow.

Invite his constituents to accompany him so he can give them a full report on site as soon as he inspects.

If this was happening in my district and my guy stood up like that - I would be right there.

I thought the law was that it was illegal to stop or prevent a sitting congressman or senator from performing their constitutional functions including traveling to or from D.C.

This was adopted so that if a congressman or senator was traveling through a different state or jurisdiction they couldn’t be arrested or detained as an attempt to keep them from voting on the floor of the House or the Senate. I would think this falls under that category.

He met with the Base Commander before he tried to inspect the barracks. Next time, he should request an armed military escort to obtain entrance. The military in still in charge of the base.

From your link...

....“After my visit today with the base commander, I approached the barracks where the children are housed. A new fence has been erected by HHS, completely surrounding the barracks and covered with material to totally obscure the view. Every gate is chained closed.

“I approached a security guard and asked to speak with the manager of the facility. The guard called his supervisor who said no visitors were allowed. I asked if they were aware that I am a Member of Congress. Eventually the manager came out and said that I would have to go through HHS legislative affairs and that the first chance to visit would be July 21st.

I’d refuse to leave, or, I’d come back with reinforcements.
