If Cochran is the certified winner of the primary (did the certification happen last night?) and then he drops out for legitimate health reasons (nobody would doubt that), then it is not a sure thing that McDaniel would get selected by the MS GOP. It would be a cruel injustice to a sitting state Senator who got the most votes in the primary election to not be selected, but I won't put cronism past the MS GOP at this point.
