At least eight universities, including four public institutions, have paid hundreds of thousands of dollars for Hillary Rodham Clinton to speak on their campuses over the past year, sparking a backlash from some student groups and teachers at a time of austerity in higher education.
In one previously undisclosed transaction, the University of Connecticut which just raised tuition by 6.5 percent paid $251,250 for Clinton to speak on campus in April. Other examples include $300,000 to address UCLA in March and $225,000 for a speech scheduled to occur in October at the University of Nevada at Las Vegas.
The potential 2016 Democratic presidential candidate also has been paid for speeches at the University at Buffalo, Colgate University and Hamilton College in New York, as well as Simmons College in Massachusetts and the University of Miami in Florida.
Officials at those five schools refused to say what they paid Clinton. But if she earned her standard fee of $200,000 or more, that would mean she took in at least $1.8 million in speaking income from universities over the past nine months.
Since stepping down as secretary of state in early 2013, Clinton has given dozens of paid speeches to industry conventions and Wall Street banks. But Clintons acceptance of high fees for university visits has drawn particularly sharp criticism, with some students and academic officials saying the expenditures are a poor use of funds at a time of steep tuition hikes and budget cuts across higher education.

What’s with all of these negative Clinton stories in the MSM??? Does somebody not want the Clinton’s back in the White House?????
Academia and most of the so-called “news” media are dyed in the wool Pinkos.
They’re happy to fund PIAPS.
And probably quite pleased that it doesn’t personally cost them single penny.
MoonBats with a checkbook... what could go wrong?..
At $250,000, why don’t they give 25 students 10 grand to lower their tuition.
That Woman is old used newspaper.
Are these universities claiming austerity? If they aren’t cutting back on things claiming poverty then I don’t see a problem. Big name speakers get big name fees, it’s just how it works, and like her or not HC is a big name. A lot of times these fees grow in a bidding war, two place want the same speaker at the same time and the offers start rolling in, it’s the free market. Which she despises, which makes the whole thing kind of ironic, but not necessarily bad.
Tony Montana calls it “money laundering”.
So how is this not a political donation?
So your kid can’t afford college because they raised the tuition to pay for Hillary’s speech. What difference does it make?
Don’t you love it when the newspapers turn on their own.
Too little,too late WaPo.
Interesting number there. One would expect a round number say 250K or 225K or some such. The odd $1250 sounds like the cost of going and staying for the night on top of the standard fee.
What a goniff.
These grifters have been gaming the system for forty years.
Sell tickets, split the gate. Stop sloughing money to speakers who are running for office
Universities are taking the chance that Hillary will be president, and they will get that money back ten fold. Otherwise, from an educational perspective, Hillary isn’t worth the electric bill.
The media is getting all of Hillary’s bad stuff out of the way now. When 2016 rolls around they will all slavishly bow to her and sniff her pantsuit like good little democrat media whores.
I wouldn’t pay one thin dime to listen to her speak - lies, nothing but da**ed lies come out of her mouth. These people make me sick - and to think that one university got their panties in a wad over Condi Rice. Only libs get the perks of speaking at colleges. This county is sickening at times.
Payoffs, bribery. There just is no justification for this kind of money being paid to the Clintons or anyone else.
The people making the decision to have her speak are probably all Democrats and are thrilled to have a chance to meet the next President. So what if it’s money that could have been used for the students’ benefit or to hire two or three more faculty members.
So why aren’t the students PROTESTING??!!
