A Senator Wins a Race He Mulled Not Running [Cochran, MS]
NYT ^ | June 24, 2014 | By Ashley Parker

JACKSON, Miss. — The question seemed to tug at Senator Thad Cochran throughout his bumpy re-election campaign in Mississippi: Why, after a long, distinguished career — 42 years in Congress, including six terms in the Senate — was he seeking a seventh term?

By all accounts, Mr. Cochran had needed to be talked into running. He told one national publication that he had planned to retire, and another that the first thing he wanted to do after Election Day was take a nap.

And while the snowy-haired, 76-year-old Republican tried to hush whispers that he was not quite as sharp as he had once been, he occasionally gave the impression that he would have been almost as happy sitting on his front porch, sipping sweet tea, as he was campaigning.

Nothing but a senile puppet for the corrupt Barbour GOPe/RINO political machine.

Cochran would be the best senator Barbour’s corrupt GOPe/RINO machine can buy.

Exactly.

He actually lost it by about 8-9% of the Republican vote, which he made up for by paying of Rats.

As I recall, he was going to call it quits until the RINOs needed him to stay and save the seat from the ‘Tea Party’. He’s a puppet.

The taint of his final campaign will be what he is remembered for.

There was another post on here tonight about the lack of outrage over the IRS “crashed drives’ drivel.

Well this is no better. These people don’t mention the 4,900 double votes already found. They don’t even nod at the vote-buying, at the GOPe blocking McDaniel’s team from looking at logs.

I have to say I’m stunned, that they can all ignore blatant voter fraud, a stolen election, and post their stupid “Cochran winner” stories. Is there any hope if ‘journalists’ keep ignoring the news and reporting their feelings?

76 years old and a too long of a career in DC. Retire already old man and enjoy your latter years whatever is left.
Damn Senators ultimate goal is to exit dead in the casket.
By letting fat tasbard Haley Baboon manipulate him he’s either got some early dementia or experiencing elder abuse from selfish cretins.

I can’t bring myself to read The Slimes, but did this article even mention the vote buying or the plan to not check voter eligibility? Or the True the Vote lawsuit? Or any of these factual issues surrounding that run-off election?

The sad part is he isn't. They could have let this slug retire and come up with a much better puppet that is actually awake and functional. They could have found one without a tract record so they could actually claim he was conservative. But they are just that arrogant and bereft of ideas, that they settled for this slug.

He isn’t going to retire until after he is elected and then Haley Barbour will appoint his successor.

That’s why Barbour is pulling out all the stops.

No, which is terrifying. So much "in your face, America" going on, missing hard drives/servers/clouds whatever it takes, media that refuses to print news they don't like thereby printing only pablum for the base, hundreds of thousands of immigrants crashing the border bringing disease, crime, and a burden we can't sustain. Heartbreaking.

By the way, I don’t even think Cochran is capable if mulling.
