As we near the 238th anniversary of U.S. independence, many Americans are wondering if we are indeed an independent nation with sovereign borders, given that tens of thousands of unaccompanied children are streaming across the southern border. Have we become strangers in our own land?

While he completes the disconnect between the country in which we were born and today, this started before he ever saw a TV camera. My oldest was born over a dozen years ago, and was one of the few non-Hispanic babies in the meternity ward (in a state that is still officially mostly “white”). Both parties are complicit in it, and if the Anglos won’t breed it will become more alien by the day.

I don’t recognize my country anymore.

Recently I’ve encountered several disturbing government officials and after walking away, I’ve said to my wife: “They would immediately start rounding up the Jews if they were told to do so.”

Time after time we are controlled in small ways so that we are trained to do whatever we are told. The day will come when we are told to do something terrible. And many of the sheeple will just shrug and do it.

Who is “we”? I think that the “we” has two meanings, and the second is far more important than the first.

On a superficial level, “we” are Caucasians. I read recently that for this racial group, deaths now outnumber births.

On the more important level, “we” are Christians who know and understand liberty. These people often call themselves “conservative”, but it is a liberal (in the classic sense) conservatism.

There are plenty of Caucasians who not only reject classical liberal public and economic policy, but we are now seeing some Caucasian liberals who are ashamed of the color of their own skin. They make the grotesque mistake of thinking their skin color imparts ideology and social standing.

This has given rise by liberals in general assuming that Caucasians generally hold one ideology and “people of color” (meaning everyone else) hold another ideology. The related assumption extending the idea that if you reject the policies of a politician who calls himself “black”, then you are racist, I kid you not.

For the record, it should be recalled that Obama’s mother was Caucasian, and his father was mixed race, being majority Arab and minority Negro. Obama stated in his autobiography that he struggled with racial identity before deciding to be “black”. Now how can someone choose to be “black”? Only when “black” means far more than skin color or genetic makeup.

This thinking allows Nobel Prize winning poet Tony Morrison to be able to write an October 1988 New Yorker article titled “Clinton as the first black president” where she tells us that Clinton was “Blacker than any actual black person who could ever be elected in our children’s lifetime.”

If any issue highlights the premise of Horowitz’s article, it is this one. At the end of WW II, the country was mostly Caucasian with growing Black and Hispanic minorities, but the majority were at least nominal Christian. There was a common moral tone. For example, the rate of out of wedlock births among teenage girls was about 5%. Homosexuality was abhorrent. Many people did not think to lock their homes. Children were free to spend their summer days in unsupervised play.

The most important change, in my opinion, since then has been the decline in the personal influence of Christianity, and the rise of force that were overtly hostile to its values and thus its influence in the general social tone. For example, how many years do we have to travel back from today where it would be unthinkable that were a CEO to donate in support of a ballot initiative that merely defended marriage as Christianity defines it, that such a person would be considered unfit to represent the company?

Well, we can’t travel back at at all because what happened to the CEO of Mozilla marked a cultural milestone whereby the forces of homosexual sharia gained the cultural and social upper hand, and from where they will fight tooth and claw to never retreat from. It looks like Christians have retreated from the battlefield of values and public discourse.

But then again, how many people who consider themselves Christians on this very forum are living with someone of the opposite sex without the benefit of being married? How many understand that God calls upon all people to practice sexual morality as He defines it, not as people think passes for being moral. We cannot lament the alienation of “we” and not be willing to observe the values and indeed the Commandments that God gave all humanity, and that indeed were the spiritual underpinnings that made this country great.

(And you cannot understand those values unless you read the Book from which those values spring.)

Before my dad passed, my parents would respond to something they saw on TV, news, commercials, whatever, by telling each other how out of place they were.

I guess I'm turning into my parents, because that's how I feel now, too.

Our country has rejected and tossed out the principles that made us worthwhile and replaced them with fads and pop culture political correctness.

So instead of that Shining City on a Hill, the US now looks like a shopping mall during a riot being looted in slow motion.
