NASHVILLE Joe Carr today accused Republican U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander of trying to "hide from his record" by refusing to agree to a televised debate in the GOP Senate primary.
The Carr campaign also announced the endorsements of five state legislators, including Rep. Richard Floyd, R-Chattanooga, and Rep. David Alexander, R-Winchester.
Lamar Alexander thinks he can hide from his record, refuse to debate, and that somehow the people here in Tennessee wont hold him accountable for choosing 11 million illegal immigrants over them hes setting himself up for a Dave Brat-like surprise," Carr said in a news release.
State Rep. David Alexander weighed in, saying, Lamar Alexander has chosen to support an amnesty agenda driven by Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi and LaRaza at the expense of Tennessees working families.
Look at the growing crisis on our southern border today, and we know exactly where that agenda has gotten us," state Rep. Alexander added.
Sen. Alexander this week shrugged off Carr's demands for a debate. A second GOP challenger, Memphis physician and businessman George Flinn, also criticized the senator.
Other state lawmakers in the latest round of Carr endorsements are Sen. Stacey Campfield, R-Knoxville, Sen. Jim Summerville, R-Dickson, and Rep. Kelly Keisling, R-Byrdstown. Fifteen other GOP state lawmakers had previously endorsed Carr.

He doesn’t have to debate. Cochran set the rules for running against conservatives, ignore them then just cheat like hell.
