Anti-Catholic full-page ad in the New York Times today
American Thinker ^ | 07/03/2014 | Ed Lasky

Posted on 07/03/2014 7:35:06 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

The Hobby Lobby decision has ignited liberals and unleashed their prejudice. And this ad is shameful.

The New York Times has a full-page ad in its print edition today that should elicit protests around the nation (but likely won’t).

Here is a copy from the website of the Freedom From Religious Foundation that wrote and paid for the ad http://ffrf.org/news/news-releases/item/20870-ffrf-s-full-page-ad-in-new-york-times-to-protest-hobby-lobby-ruling:

The photo of the woman at top is that of Margaret Sanger-idol of the pro-choice movement (and the founder of Planned Parenthood) who -- this has been all but erased from the panegyrics to her greatness -- was a proponent of eugenics. She was, in the words of Arina Grossu a “racist, eugenicist extraordinaire” whose role in pushing these Nazi-like laws resulted in more than 60,000 sterilizations of vulnerable people, including people she considered ‘feeble-minded”, “idiots” and “morons.” She also spoke to KKK women’s groups.

But what is worse is this line from the ad: “All-male, All-Roman Catholic Majority on Supreme Court Puts Religious Wrongs over Women’s Rights.”

If the ad read “ All Male, all Jewish....” or “All Male, all Muslim” the Times would have rejected the ad as hate.

Picture of Margaret Sanger. Nice.

Back in the 19th century, the anti-Catholics were called the Know Nothing party. I guess not much has changed.

Ironically for the NYT, the Hobby Lobby consisted of a majority of women, who used the rule of law and the constitution as the measuring stick to get this ruling. So what the NYT is really saying is, they hate the constitution, the voice of Americans and the rule of law. Such a world we live in nowadays

They are starting the Senate 2014 campaign and working on the 2016 Presidentials too. First, villify Republicans as the party that HATES WOMEN. Whup them up re Hobby Lobby, put out falsehoods, distort and demonize. Then, you provide the ‘savior’ - someone who stands for women’s freedom to act promiscuously, and voila’ - the sheeple will vote them in.

Just watch.

I think they’re saying it’s wrong NOT to kill babies. I’m pretty sure that’s what “religious wrongs” means to them. They’re saying those bigoted old Catholic men put their own religious wrongs (not rights) ahead of women’s rights (to kill their babies).

It’s amazing to me, that the reaction from the left has been so overwhelming.

These liberals really don’t understand what this case was all about.

The liberals, in their over-reaction about how we are headed for being a theocracy due to this case, just shows their own ignorance about the issues involved.

It shows their deepest fears, which are completely unfounded, that somehow the courts will make America into a theocracy based on a decision like this.

It shows their anti-Catholic bigotry, for them to focus on the religion of justices who didn’t vote the way they wanted them to vote.

This says a lot of unflattering things about the left, based on their reactions to this decision.

For what it's worth, the ad, in B&W and topped by that picture of an old woman in a hat, is not going to attract anyone under 70.

And 90 percent of those will drop off when they get to the word "atheists."

Which means, I guess, that all 70,000 Times subscribers will read on eagerly.

From the ad:

"Allowing employers to decide what birth control an "employee can use is not, as the Supreme Court ruled an exercise of religion". It is an exercise in tyranny.

Of course, the government mandating that an employer must pay for abortifacients is not tyranny. And since when has Hobby Lobby controlled what birth control their employers used? The delusion is staggering.

So the group is named Freedom From Religion Foundation.

Our forefathers came here for freedom of religion, not from religion.

I wonder if this group would support requiring Muslim companies to provide insurance? or having their employees to sign up for health insurance?

This is what the left does. They distort and outright lie about the facts, to get to their predetermined talking points.

A case dealing with which particular birth control devices are mandated to be paid for, becomes, in the minds of the left, a case of tyranny if the decision is that employers do not have to cover certain devices. It is considered tyranny by the left if there is not a requirement that all of this birth control be paid for. The left perceives any actions which don’t comport to liberal views as somehow turning back the clock, or turning America into a theocracy. This shows how twisted and demented their minds are, to draw such conclusions from this case.

Anywhere, does the left address the law at hand, the Religious Freedom Restoration Act? That law was passed when Democrats controlled Congress in 1993, and signed into law by a good Democrat, Bill Clinton.

Does the left have any vitriol for the Democrats who gave us that law? Chuck Shumer was a sponser of that law. Yet he’s a reliable liberal. Why aren’t they going after him? Why not after Clinton for signing this allegedly evil legislation? Where’s the intellectual honesty on the left?

Catholics are in the crosshairs most of the time.

Archbishop Fulton Sheen said:

“If I were not a Catholic, and were looking for the true Church in the world today, I would look for the one Church which did not get along well with the world...

“...if the Church is unpopular with the spirit of the world, then it is unworldly, and if it is unworldly it is other worldly. since it is other-worldly, it is infinitely loved and infinitely hated as was Christ Himself.”

When we took out an obituary space in the early ‘80s it was $85, if I remember.

I’d hat to see the price of a full ad right now

This was covered by Planned Parenthood and taxpayer dollars, to some degree, I’d imagine.

As well as being scurrilous and obnoxious, this ad is woefully stupid and misinformed.

1. Hobby Lobby does not “Ban” contraceptives. It pays for 16 of the 20 “pills” available, condoms, shields, spermicides, etc. The only pills they do not pay for are the four that are abortifacients.

2. Anyone who wants those “Morning After” pills can just pay for them if they are so important to them. Hobby Lobby need never know about it.

3. EVERY Insurance Plan has “Formularies” which designate which medications they will or will not pay for. If your doctor truly wants to prescribe a medication that is not covered, he or she can request an “override”. The Insurance Company can either refuse or grant the override. It has nothing to do with religion.

4. Hobby Lobby’s Family owners are Not Roman Catholic. They are Evangelicals. They are not against Birth Control. They are against ABORTION, which they consider MURDER. This is more common among Evangelicals than most people realize. However, we Evangelicals owe The Roman Catholic Church a debt of gratitude for being the Standard Bearers in the Pro-Life Movement. They also get most of the flack.

5. Margaret Sanger, their “hero” was a racist, and a guest speaker for at least one KKK rally. Her eugenics theories were shamefully employed in the USA in the 1920’s and were an inspiration to the Nazis. This little tidbit came out during the Nuremberg War Crimes Trials.

6. And, finally, the Original Suffragettes and Women’s Rights Advocates were Anti-Abortion. They correctly viewed abortion as violence against women and children. This fact is borne out by one of the largest Pro-Life organizations being named after Susan B. Anthony.

The ad is wrong. No dogma is involved.

The truth about Hobby Lobby. Although they offer other avenues of contraception to their employees, they would not support the mandated abortion and abortifacients (Morning after pill and other products that destroy an embryo -- already fertilized.).

It's that simple because they are a closely held (family) business that believes and lives their religion in their business. They even play religious music in their stores. (And not just at Christmas!)

God bless them.

PS. This does not apply to corporations, etc. as the libs would have you believe.

Another glaring error of stunning ignorance in the ad is the inclusion of James Madison to attempt to bolster their argument. In her new book "James Madison - A Life Reconsidered", Lynne Cheney writes:

"More than a year before the Revolutionary War, he (Madison) was, astonishingly, inquiring into ways "the constitution of (a) country" could foster freedom of belief. Even in his maiden venture into politics, he had a significant contribution to make, insisting that the new state of Virginia not merely tolerate religious differences but view each individual's conviction as a fundamental right".
