Mississippi Tea Party dreams were extirpated last week when State Senator Chris McDaniel lost his Republican primary bid to unseat Senator Thad Cochran. Yet if some of Mr. McDaniels most outspoken contemporaries are any guide, he may actually have greater political influence as a loser.
Mr. McDaniel made clear this week that he was not giving up the fight, dashing off fund-raising emails declaring Mississippis Republican Senate runoff a sham, plain and simple, and offering rewards to individuals who provide evidence leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in voter fraud.
Thanks to illegal voting from liberal Democrats, my opponent stole last weeks runoff election, he wrote.
He was playing to type. Many of the Tea Party movements most resonant or at least loudest voices these days were themselves Election Day losers who have packed up their ideas about government and elections along with their campaign signs and headed to outside groups, radio programs or their own living rooms in an effort to influence campaigns, often making heaps of trouble for their own party.
The mother of this strategy is Sarah Palin, the failed vice-presidential candidate who jettisoned her job as governor of Alaska in favor of a personal bully pulpit and a political action committee to support conservatives candidates, who largely covet her nod....

The unintended consequences of a vicious smear campaign, which you would understand Jennifer if you had two brain cells to rub together.
Here it starts. The nyt leading the charge for a dimoKKKRAT senate seat in Mississippi. They may well succeed after the fiasco by the GOPe.
Living rent-free in their heads. Sara’s got a lovely split-level, just down the street from Rush’s log cabin.
Of course they do. They fear her passion. That's the same reason that they fear the Tea Party. It's the reason they fear Jim Robinson. It's the reason they fear Free Republic. It's because we really, really believe in what we are fighting for.
It's why they much prefer their gentlemanly association with the GOPe. Now those guys know their place. It's called second place.
The Republican Party is not my own party.
THEIR OWN PARTY .?
If it gets up the Old Gray Whore’s nose, it must be good.
None of the news media narratives make reference to the most explosive aspect of Cochran's campaign - the smear campaign trolling for black crossover votes.
And so of course they will be taken off guard by the ultimate tea party reaction - again.
It appears Conservatives are doing something good since our detractors are whining that we won’t shut up.
True. But don’t give the NY Slime credit for anything, they do not deserve it, ever.
She's probably got a nasal voice too
“Extirpated”? .... The NYT is having another of their fantasies or wet-dreams. They are becoming more and more detached from reality as they become more and more financially insolvent.
Looking forward to their going under.
That’s a Babs Streisand schnozz.
Steinhauer = rock breaker
McD should run as an Independent in Nov.
In 2008 (with Obama on the ballot and a black Democrat on the ticket), the Rat lost by 280,000 votes against Cochran.
In 2014 with Obama NOT on the ballot, and Cochran a Rat in RINO clothing, McD could pull off a victory.
He cannot do that, that door closed in January. And he cannot do a write-in campaign as that doesn’t work in Mississippi except in very narrow circumstances. His only option now is to get Thad Cochran kicked off as the Republican nominee due to fraud.
Dang. What a bummer!
Chris McDaniel Offers $15,000 Reward for Voter Fraud Evidence
That jumped out at me, too. GOPe and TP are MILES apart on most issues and virtual enemies on many. Jennifer is terribly ignorant of basic facts. But libs never let reality intrude in their little worlds.
“...heaps of trouble for their own party.”
“That jumped out at me, too. GOPe and TP are MILES apart on most issues and virtual enemies on many.”
Interesting how the Dems don’t differentiate. They view the RINOs and the TeaParty as the same party and a single enemy, yet the RINOs view the TeaParty as their only enemy and the Dems as their partners.
They are the same party.
The TEApartiers just haven’t kicked out all the RINOs yet.
“Steinhauer - rock breaker”
When I taught intro courses on campus, if I found a name like that in the lecture I would say something like, “stein - something to hold beer, hauer - modern form of haver, so the name means someone who has a beer mug,” deadpan with a straight face. Good students would take notes, bad students never listened anyway.
To the left, the GOPe and the tea party are Vichy and the resistance, respectively. They have to crush the resistance first, then replace today’s Petains with themselves.
Can’t help myself, had to have it, Stole it quicker than the rinos stolt my vote in the Mississippi runoff.
stolt = stole, although I have heard it pronounced that way. I’ve been using Mrs. duffee’s laptop and got used to spelt chek.
The Republican Party is OVER if they keep power. The nation will splinter (probably sooner rather than later) and some regions will emerge....smarter, more successful, more independent and more conservative than what DC has done to the nation!
Didjoo jes borry it or daid you stolt it dis time?
Jennifer Steinhauer: “Sarah Palin .... Meow, Hiss, Hiss”
He was speaking truth to power.
