Sen. Kay Hagan (D-NC) leads North Carolina state House Speaker Thom Tillis (R) in the North Carolina race for U.S. Senate according to a recent poll released by the conservative think tank Civitas.

The poll found Hagan leading Tillis 42 percent to 36 percent. Meanwhile, Libertarian candidate Sean Haugh had 9 percent support, the poll found.

Civitas also asked those surveyed who they would prefer if the only options were Tillis and Hagan, the respective Republican and Democratic nominees for Senate. Forty-seven percent said they would pick Hagan while 43 percent said they would pick Tillis.

The poll was conducted among 600 registered voters in North Carolina from June 18 through the 22 on behalf of National Research, inc. The margin of error was plus or minus 4 percentage points.

Point exactly. Lefties in the Triangle are NOT NC. There is much going on way outside the ken of the lefties, and the pollsters. And it is groundswell. Kay (Chiles) Hagen has to fabricate constantly and the fabric is torn. The social issues take a back seat to Hagen’s failures in supporting obamaumaocare and the deathgrip on insurance from the subsidized NC monopoly of BC-BS. Seeing outside the beltway is hard for those inside it (as it always has been). People are pissed at Hagen.

Meanwhile, Libertarian candidate Sean Haugh had 9 percent support, the poll found.

The Libertarian won't win 9 percent. Voters might prefer a Libertarian candidate to a Republican, but understand that they might as well vote for the Democrat, or not at all.

In the voting booth, most people will "satisfice" their vote, rather than "optimize" it.

“How many people voted twice for Ross Perot and how did that work out for them? “

Well, just a reminder - Read my lips - No New Taxes

So it worked out the same - More Taxes, More G’ment

“n the voting booth, most people will “sacrifice” their vote, rather than “optimize” it.

Well, lets see, Bush II gave us more g’ment bureaucracy - NSA, More DUMB people groping you at the airport, No child left behind - which lead to Common Core.

So where is the “optimize” portion again?

Its GOPe candidates that attract 3d party candidates

Those who blame Third Party candidates always cover up for the liberal GOPe running

I don’t accept the premise that George H.W. Bush, George Bush, and the rest of the Republican establishment are the same as Bill Clinton, Al Gore, John Kerry, Barack Obama, and Hillary Clinton. Not what I want, but not even close to being the same as what we got.

The Dims are MOTIVATED ..

On what basis can you say this? Because they have to go back to the War on Women playbook? Because Obama’s been polled to be the worst President since WWII? Because the IRS scandal is being paid more attention to than the World Cup? Because Veterans died waiting for care under a President who promised to make the VA a better organization?

No, I will ALWAYS blame 3rd parties and stay at home whiners for our demonic liberal government.

You'll do that while the GOP-E candidates march ever-leftward in the direction of that demonic liberal government, embracing the evils of the Gay Agenda, and Abortion, and bigger and more intrusive government.

Stay at home whiners are the reason for your continued losing streaks? We supported all your bone head liberal (R) candidates since 1988 and how is that worked out for us? We even supported the clearly (D) McCain in 2008 a man you GOPE cheaters (Mississippi just confirmed it for everyone that elections are totally rigged by both parties) engineered the nomination for and anointed who holds any conservative in utter contempt and we voted for this putrid “electable” turd.

You GOPE losers are losers. You keep trotting out one leftists after another and the same results. I have to conclude you want don’t really care about any policy changes or the country, you just want your turn at the $$$ trough.

“the other viable candidates before the primary”

Your yardstick for “viable” must be broken since they couldn’t get past the primary.

I agree, the RINOs are not the same as the Commies. They are close but not the same

Big G’ment is the religion of both - And it is unacceptable in either case

Its just that I don’t cry and take my ball a go home when my preferred candidate doesn’t win.

Who's crying? I feel liberated, now that I'm an independent voter. I'll vote for the person that represents my values. If no candidate represents my values, why should I waste my vote? I'll cast a write-in instead.

Democrats = those that will drive the country off the cliff in a Corvette.

GOPe = those that will drive the country off the cliff in a Vespa.

The end result is the same.

"The poll was conducted among 600 registered voters"

Worthless poll with outlier results.

Good! And today, Thomas Ravenel is entering the SC Senate race as an Indy because he hates Lindsey Graham. He won’t win, but he will prolly throw the election to the Democrat. Who shives a git? I don’t even care anymore in the GOPe does not win control of the Senate. People like McConnell, Cochran, McCain and Graham are just as rotten as Harry Reid.

HE WHO DOES NOT LIKE REVENGE HAS NEVER TASTED IT!
