The Basics of the Border Crisis: How Did We Get Here?
NBC News ^ | 7/04/14

More than 52,000 unaccompanied children have crossed the U.S.-Mexico border since October. Here's a look at why it's happening and how authorities and communities are coping:

When did the crisis start?

The Department of Homeland Security said the uptick in unaccompanied minors crossing the border began last year but accelerated in the last few months. Since October, more than 52,000 children traveling without an adult were caught entering the United States through Mexico — double the number of the previous year and triple the number in 2011.

**SNIP**

How do they get to the U.S.?

They travel by bus, train, car and raft to Mexico, often led by smugglers who charge up to $10,000 each, officials say. They then walk across the border and into the custody of U.S. agents. It's a punishing journey that leaves the children and teens vulnerable to abuse or sex trafficking. In June, the body of a 15-year-old Guatemalan boy was found in some brush at the border.

NBC is the propaganda arm of the Democrat Party... why would we believe anything they say?

It’s easy to explain.

We choose to fix every country in the world....except Mexico.

Fix that country and make them prosperous and they will stay home.

But....people who need cheap labor don’t want that.

FIX MEXICO!

I haven’t seen this anywhere, but both Biden and Kerry have made recent trips to Mexico and South America.

That looks pretty obvious to me.

The reason I caught it was because both of them were in Mexico - and neither of them did a thing about our Marine in jail in Mexico.

I call BS. Most Americans couldn’t cough up 10K to smuggle somebody somewhere else, are you telling me Central American can? 52K children at even $5K per child to smuggle is $260M dollars. Some people are getting very rich and some countries are bleeding capital.

I’m willing to bet our govt has a hand in this one. No way that kind of capital is being handed over to smugglers.

Obama deserves blame, but so does every president and member of congress since the 50’s. Along with the US Chamber of Commerce, many in business, and last but not least the American farmer. This crap has been happening for decades and everyone I mentioned has had a part in it. None of these people then and now want a damn thing to do with securing our borders. Our leadership has failed big time for a very long time on this issue.

I don’t think we can fix Mexico, but we can stop making it worse: for one thing, we’ve actually got to help Mexico protect its borders and we’ve got to stop being the world’s biggest, laxest drug market.

One thing not discussed is that these “children” (mostly teenagers) are not all from Mexico or even Latin America, but huge numbers of them are CHINESE, and in fact the signs along the border are actually in English, Spanish and Chinese. They obviously don’t swim to Mexico, but are smuggled by human traffickers, usually to Cuba, where they are then landed on the long coastline of Mexico or trans-shipped via Guatemala and then pointed in the direction of the United States.

Mexico does not have the resources to deal with this and, meanwhile, Cuba is making a fortune on it.

I think this is one of Obama’s most cynical ploys yet, because he is essentially using Latin Americans to promote his plan to flood the US with people from totally alien cultures: either from Communist countries such as China or from Muslim countries (a large number of Arabic speakers come across the Mexican border, although he has expanded the legal quota for them so much they barely need to now...all they do is come in and overstay their visas).

We have something in common with Latin Americans, but we have absolutely nothing in common with the other people he is covertly bringing in. And he’s doing it intentionally, but manipulating Latin Americans to make it look as if it’s all their fault or to their benefit. It’s not.

How did we get here?

Puh-leez, give us a tough one.

We got here precisely because the Left figures all these new voters will keep the Democrats in clover for years to come.

Next!

“often led by smugglers who charge up to $10,000 each”

They are poor, odd they have that type of money especially with the premiss in many occasions there are multiply members of a family at one time.

They look pretty well dressed and well fed to me judging by the pictures that have been made available?????

“They travel by bus, train, car and raft to Mexico, often led by smugglers who charge up to $10,000 each”..

Can anyone explain exactly WHERE these “kids” come up with “$10,000 each”? Are not these impoverished children who’s parents seek a better life for them? I suggest that perhaps the U.S. is paying for these illegals even BEFORE the cross our borders.
