Will the United States ever be free again?
wnd.com ^ | 7/4/2014 | Patrice Lewis

As we all embark on our Fourth of July holiday weekend – stuffing our faces with hot dogs and watching fireworks – it’s too easy to forget what we’re celebrating. We don’t remember the truly horrible beginnings of our nation. Specifically, I’m referring to the signers of the Declaration of Independence, those 56 brave men who pledged their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor to give us liberty.

These men weren’t stupid. They knew what would happen by affixing their names on that document. Legend has it that the elegant and oversized “John Hancock” signature wasn’t prominent because Mr. Hancock was vain. Rather, it was a poke in the eye – “Take THAT, King George” – so the monarch could read the name without spectacles.

Whether or not the legend is true, it says something about the signers. In the mists of time and the gloss of hero-worship, it’s easy to forget that the Founding Fathers weren’t declaring independence from a foreign government. They were declaring independence from their own government. By signing that document, they were committing treason during an unforgiving age when treason meant endlessly ugly ways to be tortured, persecuted, or killed.

Slowly we start, then the angle of the slope starts to increase. We are quickly picking up speed to descend further from the originators intent. To many "beholden" to make a turn around quickly.

Unless the American people are willing to go to war as the people who went to war against the British, all could very well be lost.

The youth that were born after 2000 don’t know what patriotism is - but they sure in the hell know what an iPhone/iPad can do - and how to text one another - as they sit inches away...

When we all stood by and did nothing to those that watered our school systems down - forced the 10 Commandments out - took out GOD in our graduation - and a whole list of other stuff - we allowed the liberals to infiltrate and take out what truly matters to be a Citizen in this nation...I saw it happen as I was leaving HS and entering the University...and was in full swing after I graduated with my bachelors...there is no sense of being a unified nation anymore — the news won’t allow it - the politicians won’t allow it — and the school systems won’t allow it...it’s all about division and inequality...driven towards hate and anger...

The civil war has already happened along the Southern
Border. It is a demographic war prosecuted by the Federal Government against the People, a transgression of present Law. Mayhem is the result. This is how all civil wars begin
and Obama is the cause.

The only question is what it will take to rouse The People.

I have no doubt that Obama will declare an insurrection and impose martial law. And we will see if The People then have the right stuff.

Obama is a fascist who is dismantling America piecemeal, not from incompetence but through intentional planning. The immigration demographic war is just the tip of a very large iceberg. Its the Cloward-Priven strategy aided by Saul Alinsky ideology.

The 1776 revolution had a long ramp-up, a period of a decade or decades of usurpations whose combination led to a breaking point.

Likewise today, a free people will endure increased usurpations until a breaking point.

Whether that point is reached when the chance of success is tiny or nil is the big question. In Dinesh’s America, the margin of victory was so precarious, he suggests one bullet to Washington it would have failed.

If America is ever to be free again, it is not going to be in our lifetime. It will probably take more than 40 or 50 years to right the ship.

I went to a cookout hosted by a lesbian, with 2 other lesbians and 3 homosexual males (one from Honduras and here legally, and had a super conversation about the loss of Freedom and how it's hard to celebrate Independence when so much is being taken away.

The folks are not the tyupical "perverts that we read so much about - they have Bible studies and acknowledge their sins far more readily that do the "holier than thous" we hear so much from. They love the concept of America and do not engage in the homosexual's agenda to destroy the fabric of society. The man from Honduras is a doctor and he is very astute on how the government is becoming banana-republic out of control and lawless. All-in-all, it was a pleasant way to spend the 4th.

I think the answer is that yes, some states will be free by seceding from the union, but as a whole the nation is to far gone and is no longer a republic but has become an oligarchy, a government of the rich and powerful, for the rich and powerful and by those, in congress, the administration, the courts, the police and the press, who serve the rich and powerful, an oligarchy.

I have a theory that the human race isn't really conditioned to be "free" at all -- at least in the practical, worldly applications of it. There's a reason why free societies eventually collapse, usually after they are well advanced by any measure.

Just look around you for manifestations of this. I look around and I see a country filled with people who want someone else to do everything for them. And if they're willing to admit it, they want to be told what to do. The "natural" progression of a modern society doesn't result in freedom at all -- it culminates in smoking bans, ObamaCare, and a 911 emergency system where assistance for anything of consequence is just a phone call away.

Yep - they're not all radical nut-jobs and many have more conservative values and appreciate what America used to stand for. The woman who hosted the cookout knows I carry and had no issues with me being armed while at her house - she wants me to help her select a weapon for her own personal defense. When we get into the religious "debates" on FR, many have problems that don't allow for such attitudes as being valid, or they cry that it doesn't matter because they are, gasp, sinners. I prefer the intellectual approach and have found this particular crew to be wide open to intellectual discourse, up to and including homosexuality. I can have a more satisfying, and rational conversation with them than many here on FR.

I’ll take your thought and restate it.

It’s like the second law of thermodynamics.... Population flows from poorer regions to richer regions. Never the reverse

The influx be it slow or rapid, causes governments to adjust and even fail.

The wealth of North America and Europe is producing a population flow from the poor hinderlands to the south.

First of all, don’t call me son. I am probably as old or older than you at 65. I am also retired and have traveled the world many times over and lived in many foreign countries during my military career. None of them was as great as this country and it made me appreciate how blessed I was to be born here. As far as my lineage, my eighth great-grandfather came to this country in 1612 and yes I know every one of them and where they are buried. My fourth great-grandfather literally stood side-by-side with Thomas Jefferson and Patrick Henry and others in Williamsburg and Richmond and he fought in the American Revolution along with his brothers. I will do everything in my power to maintain the liberties and freedom that my forefathers and founding fathers fought and died for. My Congressmen hear from me weekly and I contribute financially to those politicians and other causes that will look after the best interest of this country. It may not be in my lifetime that we take back the America I grew up in, but I will do my best to insure it for my children and grandchildren. And if the need ever arises, I will indeed take up arms once again to defend this great nation. You have a nice day in the Philippines.

What would it take to anger Texans to action? Maybe if the feds raided a church and burned it to the ground, killing all the women and children inside, then they would act.

I remember well the good congressman from Texas, Jack Brooks, who chaired the committee looking into the Waco incident, saying in an open mic incident, if he had been in charge he would have lobbed a bomb into that water tower the first day. So much for getting at the truth.

Really?

Is it high taxes? Zero state income tax and zero sales tax. No, probably not that.

Is it the gun laws? Open carry legal and common, license to carry concealed costs $15, private sales legal and common, very few carry restrictions. No, probably not that either.

Is it the high crime? NH has the 3rd lowest violent crime rate in the country. So probably not that.

So what are you talking about?

I'm IN frickin' Red Hampshire...it is a corrupt to the core sh*thole, and here you go spewing the same propaganda that Freak Staters pimp to get gullible idiots seeking 'freedom' to move here.

My wife and I have been swatted for growing TOMATOES, we have been hounded by some of the nastiest M*ssholes ever to set foot in this state, their corrupt 'open primary' system has left conservatives stuck with sh*t GOP candidates over the past few election cycles, and it is coming again this year.

High taxes? You bet...some of the highest property taxes in the nation, 9.5% on meals and lodging, tolls on anything with more than two lanes, taxes when you register your car, on and on. They get their blood money, believe me.

Plenty of crime. Back in the eighties, teens could 'cruise' Elm Street in Manchester...now; they'd be taking their lives in their hands. People need to READ the local papers and watch local news on line to get a TRUE feel for what goes on around here...or you can believe the 'Free State' BS and move here. Go for it, damn fools.

The article is all true, and I've said many of the same things myself. However, I'm optimistic. I think we've turned a corner. The incident that gives me reason for optimism is the Bundy Ranch showdown. It was a small thing, but like the cloud on the horizon, no bigger than a man's hand, it signals a change in the weather. People are getting fed up with the way things are going.

As another example, note the protests against settling the "child invaders" in the interior of the US, instead of pushing them back across the border. One more sign people are getting fed up. And not just fed up, but starting to take action.

Yes, it's worth bemoaning the current state of affairs. But that's not enough. The time is getting ripe for action. Let us be ready to take whatever action is needed.

I do read the papers. Sounds like you need to get out of Manch, or Nashua aka Taxachusetts north.

The open primary is easy to rectify; select candidates via convention. As the VA gop decided to do a few years back. But the R’s and D’s don’t realllly want that, as they would have to pay for their own nomination process rather than sticking the taxpayers with the bill.

As for license and restaurant taxes, you have no idea how good you have it. In VA we have localities charging upwards of 15% meals tax. And license taxes...the plates are only about $35. But you have to pay local property taxes and vehicle fees. Those are 3-5% of the value of the vehicle every year. The state offsets some of that, but the offset is going down. Plus sales tax on everything, and a state income tax. And property taxes on real estate. Depending where you’re at, those work out to 1 to 2% of value. Every year.

Funny thing is that VA is nowhere near the worst when it comes to taxes. So given a choice, I’ll take NH taxes any day of the week, thanks.

It's Taxachusetts north all the way to Laconia, nowadays. I love how people 'assume' that they know where I am. M*ssholes and New Yuckers are overrunning the state...FSP WILL fail, I can assure you.

And license taxes...the plates are only about $35. But you have to pay local property taxes and vehicle fees. Those are 3-5% of the value of the vehicle every year.

Same in corrupt soviet Red Hampshire...it can cost you $HUNDREDS$ to register a car of recent vintage. Then there are the heating costs...

I reserved my moving van today...my wife was born here, her parents still live here, but unless they move south; she will never see them again.

The number of people complaining about high taxation is well under 50%. Most people now are net receivers of government payments or services. These takers are not complaining because they're -- well, happy about it. The producers are -- well, busy producing so they aren't about to revolt.

Going to have to come up with some reason other than "high taxation".

What you’re seeing is the combative, after-a-bottle-of-wine Al.

He posts from the beach in the Philippines, whining about the “United Socialist States of America”, while at the same time absolutely dependent on socialism for the very roof over his head and the food on his table; otherwise he’s absolutely penniless.

He refuses to answer the question “If you had a magic wand you could use to totally eliminate all traces of socialism in the world, would you do it?”.

He’s also got a four-year-old son who has a better-than-50% chance of attending his own father’s funeral before reaching age 18.

Well that is true if you are talking about income tax but there are many more taxes being added for individual items. That list is growing every year because the government is spending all income tax revenues just to pay off the interest on the Federal debt and needs more money to fund the huge government. Almost everyone is affected by these additional taxes. See the list below:
