Does Joe Miller Have Any Hope of Making Up Ground in Alaska Senate Race?

Someone forgot to tell Joe Miller the party’s over, the Alaska GOP Senate primary has already been decided.

Miller hasn’t noticed the lights are being turned out, the last of the balloons have fallen from the ceiling and the confetti is being swept up.

He’s still partying like there is more than a month to go before Republicans decide Aug. 19 who will run against Sen. Mark Begich (D) in November.

Maybe Miller is just having too much fun picking up endorsements from conservatives who also missed the “this party’s over” email, and poking fun at Lt. Gov. Mead Treadwell, another of the GOP Senate primary candidates, for attending what is being called the “Putin Pity Party.”

Or maybe the Alaska Senate GOP primary race is just so sizzling hot that he can’t back away from the flame.

Real Clear Politics has Dan Sullivan leading the GOP Senate primary pack by 11.5 points over Treadwell. Miller is so far back that it’s ridiculous. Real Clear Politics has Sullivan ahead of Miller by 21.5 points.

But conservatives are still flocking to the Miller campaign. Maybe they are thinking that if Miller does pull off a victory, it would not be the first time he has shocked the mainstream media and the elders of the Grand Old Party.

Miller rocked the establishment’s political world in 2010 when he defeated incumbent Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R) in the Alaskan Republican primary, only to lose to Murkowski when she mounted a write-in campaign in November.

And the TEA Party is Dead, and Thad Cochran will continue to be a Senator for Mississippi and Hillary Clinton will be the next President of the United States. Yada, Yada more of same.

It’s not over until it’s over and in the case of Thad Cochran not even then.

Does anyone know if this is a winner take all primary or does the winner need 50% +1?
In a 3-way race with the polling like it is there may not be a 50%+ in the primary.

Isn’t Begich indirectly responsible for the death of Ted Stevens? The Dems in Alaska mounted a fraudulent lawsuit, in which Stevens was found guilty shortly before the election , and then the verdict was vacated due to ‘gross prosecutorial misconduct’. But Stevens narrowly lost to Begich before the verdict was vacated. It was trumpeted that ‘if Stevens is elected, he would be the first felon elected to the Senate’. Stevens was killed in a plane crash two years later, on a trip that wouldn’t have happened if he had gone back to the Senate. I am so sick of Dems getting away with so much BS. And didn’t Miller run for Senate and lose to a write in campaign by Murkowski? Perhaps it is true ‘run the most Conservative candidate that can WIN’.

The story is a little thin on facts.

Miller won because

1) Lisa ran a non-campaign, that is to say, she acted then as she acts now - like the seat is hers by birth. She won the write in ballot because the **real power** in Alaska (money) showed up and put her back in the seat.

2) There was an abortion related issue on the ballot in the primary. Folks who normally don’t vote in an off-year election (lazy people/single issue voters) showed up in droves and carried Joe along.

Joe ran a horrible campaign, was attacked relentlessly by the press prostitutes - and it didn’t help that he got tied (rightly or wrongly) to the Sovereign Citizen nutcases in Fairbanks.

Joe had over 800K in his kitty this time around. I haven’t seen that he’s spent all that much.

Outside money has been flooding into the State now for two or more years.

We’ll see if the highest bidder wins again....

Let me refresh your memory,

Sarah Palin stabbed Ted Stevens in the back.

Democrat Eric Holder dismissed the convictions against Ted Stevens after Bush's DOJ misconduct.

Lisa won because she showed up at the AFN convention prior to the election and promised the dem Indians all the gold they could eat if they wrote her name in on their ballots. I even heard the fix was in before the AFN Convention and LIsa's staff was awful proud on their big plan. Indians make up 20% of the population up here, LIsa won by 12k votes I believe. Many rural villages, every single registered dem voter wrote Murkowski's name in all in the same persons handwriting; Murkowski often mis-spelled. Repub Judges refused to investigate. So Alaskans ended up with a person who won't make a hard stand on anything; somebody you can't trust and don't honestly know where they stand by their past record.

Much truth to the outside money, cost effective due to population; but that only goes so far, unlike the lower 48; remember the PFD vote, the anti people outspent the save the PFD people 10 to 1; yet they still lost 86% to 14%; telling.

One of my friends in Anchorage that is more involved than somebody like myself who Lives rural along the Yukon and is way more worried about the weather, wolves, and if my road gets washed out for the entire summer;;;; tells me Sullivan ain't a quick on the spot speaker, say like Donny Young. He believes Begich will make Sullivan look like a fool or big dummy on the state debates; Alaskans won't turn out the conservative vote. He says Miller is sharp, quick on his feet with witty responses and you know how much Alaskans enjoy the political comedy we call elections. Heck, Donny Young has been getting elected forever with that system. Only thing that worries Alaskans is that Young won't live forever.

Ya know, I really don't think Miller can win; some baggage from first race that many Alaskans won't forgive. Boy, I don't want to see Begich sneak back in; he'll be a mirror image of Big Ears if he gets elected.

I'll probably vote for whoever is the strongest to face Mark. So many crooks, hard to pick the best one, ha ha.

The only political I'd actually trust is Palin; she has proven herself to me so many times; has a gold plated record of accomplishment. I also know that ole Donny Young is a good deal for Alaska. He always seems to be thinking my way too, and I trust his judgment.

Have to vote NO on that Oil Tax referendum. I got so many friends & hunting buddies that work up the slope; hate to see them moving to lower 48 for work. But honestly, the oil industry keeps crying the blues about taxes and changing the system for their benefit, just business as usual.

Thinking about caribou pretty quick, we got 5 bear outta my stand; nephew ground it all up, good burger actually. Have my eyes on a local moose or two; and garden is growing like nuts; life is quite good.
