New York Newsday's Lane Filler: We should let immigrant kids in
New York Newsday ^ | 07/03/2014

Each time I think about the tens of thousands of unaccompanied children streaming across the U.S. southern border, often without adult companions, three thoughts skitter across my mind: What would Sir Nicholas Winton think? What is the purpose of America? And what is the meaning of life?

Sir Nicholas Winton celebrated his 105th birthday in London recently, surrounded by about 100 guests. Most were offspring of the 669 children he saved from the Nazis in 1938 and 1939.

Last week, many people in Bethpage and throughout Long Island erupted in outrage the federal government might consider an old Grumman facility to house some of the children. The option surfaced as part of a preliminary national list of empty buildings

[SNIP]

About 6,000 descendants of those 669 people, living all over the world today, owe Winton their lives. He chose to do this, others did not. People lived because of his actions, but 10,000 times as many died because nations wouldn't accept Jews and individuals wouldn't help.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection expects to nab 90,000 kids at the border this year, up from 25,000 last year. They are coming because their home countries, mostly Mexico, Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala, are hellish pits of gang warfare and other violence. It is so bad, the children are sent by loving parents to walk hundreds or thousands of miles to the United States, hoping they'll be allowed to stay, to live with relatives or friends.

Let them in, and if their numbers double and increase tenfold, continue to let them in. They'll make us a stronger, more vital nation, as immigrants have. They'll love and protect this nation with a ferocity many Americans can't match, and be part of a brilliant future.

“They’ll love and protect this nation with a ferocity many Americans can’t match, and be part of a brilliant future.”

This won’t fly; too many Americans have already encountered the dregs of the Third World that get in here, and see right through this blatant lie.

Utterly stupid comparison. Lane Filler can go play in traffic.

Yeah, I don’t think too many normal (non-progressive) Americans are in the mood for the ‘they’re better than you are’ line anymore.

“hellish pits of gang warfare and other violence”

And that is exactly what they bring to the US. Send them all back immediately and bill their countries of origin for every dime we have had to spend on their children.

I am aware of the long and sometimes desperate struggle with the bureaucracy both in Canada and the United States. This by established naturalized citizens to bring over relatives whom they totally will support. Credit to the authorities if they do not wish a burden on the native taxpaying population. Does seem a bit hard though.

One take on it, to deal with the lighter side, is that which was stated by Rush Limbaugh. Mr. Limbaugh quoted sweet Nancy Pelosi, a highly placed person. Mrs. Pelosi, on seeing some of the young children said " I could take some of them home". This being a sort of warm and caring statement often made elsewhere.

Mr Limbaugh then said:

"Then why doesn't she? " and he repeated this. Not that easy for Mrs. Pelosi, I would think.

Again, Senorita Lane Filler should take in five, just five of these children, feed them, educate them, clothe them and do her part.

I’m so sick of these people preaching from anonymity. Step out, Senorita Filler, show us you practice what you preach. Or is it just our money you want to use for this?

““the children are sent by loving parents to walk hundreds or thousands of miles “”

-

But let a loving parent leave the family dog in a hot car for 5 minutes in this country and the press would pillory them.

Hypocrites.

“Again, Senorita Lane Filler should take in five, just five of these children, feed them, educate them, clothe them ...” She should have to treat personally their communicable disease, too. But it isn’t actually about these children, it is about a Cloward-Piven invasion orchestrated by the current regime, aimed at overwhelming the Southern States healthcare systems and welfare roles. For that treasonous behavior the current pResident should be impeached, removed and sent to the execution block. he is a treacherous, lying degenerate bath house bastard boy with ‘no controlling legal authorit’ willing to weed the vermin out because the ones tasked are just as corrupt as he is. ... Yes, NSA, send this message to the despicable Harry Reid, temple recommend Mormon extraordinaire.

This man is equating the Kindertransport to these kids from Central America ???????? INSANE.

I am here because of the Kindertransport.

My father was one of those lucky children sent on those trains at age 7 to England to save him and his brother from Hitler's gas chambers. My grandfather had to gather documents and sponsorships from people outside the country to get his kids on one of the last trains out of Germany. There was apparently someone - distant relative or business colleague, we aren't sure - in Switzerland who was able to help.

In the end, the scramble for money and papers worked and he secured two spots on that train, took his little boys, 12 and 7, and waved goodbye to them, knowing he might never see them again, but he saved their lives. He went to join my grandmother who was with her parents. It happened to be my great grandfather's birthday. My grandfather told him what he had done, and his father-in-law told him it was the best birthday present ever. Sending his only grandchildren out of the country forever on a train alone. Both he and his wife died the next year in a concentration camp.

Does this sound like what is going on here with these Central Americans? Are they near orphans? Were their well off parents robbed of everything including their nationalities, and rounded up and murdered?

England OPENED UP ITS COUNTRY to take in the Jewish refugee children, who would have been exterminated (actual word) if they had stayed home. My father was raised by his beautiful British foster parents.

How dare this butthole make this comparison? How dare he.

If we let these Indian and Mestizo young people stay they will create vibrant high-achieving U.S. communities — just like earlier waves of Indian and Mestizo immigrants created successful U.S. communities such as ...um....um... like...harrumph.....um...

Apparently, it’s a requirement for employment at Newsday. But seriously, I believe that all of these invaders should be housed, fed, and cared for medically personally by the people who want them here - in their own houses or in tents on their own property, and be held criminally responsible for every law the invaders break.

Housed and raised. Adopted and seen to their ‘enthusiastic contribution to this country’ and though their lives. Like family

No reason not to

1. Mexican and Central American kids today have to worry about some pretty messed-up living conditions. Jewish kids in Czechoslovakia in the late Thirties had to worry about getting exterminated. No exceptions. No mercy. One of these things, as horrible as they both are, is simply not like the other.

2. If you’re going to sign on so blithely to supporting the Childrens’ Crusade of 2014, you should offer your own residence and work space to shelter the little dears.

It is amazing that the leftists who think the economy is like a pie would want millions and millions of foreigners to share their pie. I guess sanity and logic isn’t a leftist strong-suit

“Yeah, I don’t think too many normal (non-progressive) Americans are in the mood for the ‘they’re better than you are’ line anymore.”

Exactly; while they used to be fuel for an unmatched economic engine in the past, most Americans know that these current immigrants are just a drain on taxpayers.

Was just reading that now they’re up to 300,000 illegals that are being sent throughout the US at taxpayers expense with special visa’s...I have nothing against those wanting in immigrate legally but it just made me wonder why I spent thousands of dollars and over a year waiting on paperwork and working so hard to get my wife and son over here legally....it’s kind of a punch in the stomach to all of us who work so hard to do it the legal way....but I’m sure if I say that I’ll be deemed racist...of course...
