California is the most patriotic state in the union.

Why? Because California pays more in federal taxes than any other state.

That means we prop up your failed states as well as support our huge welfare roles (comprising mostly loser American transplants from your failed states).

For the math-challenged among you, since you don’t have Cal Tech and we do, that also means we pay more to the military than any of the rest of you to defend this country.

And we do it without a word of thanks, ever. And we still want to stay in the union, even though every other post on FR is “GIVE CALIFORNIA BACK TO MEXICO!” (Which, by the way, also directed at the math-challenged, you might want to think about how cutting off California to spite your own loser face will impact your wallets.)

nope it isn’t. It is a wonderful place to raise a family. I just put a thread up. Perhaps reading it might give you an education.

I spent a couple of years in New Jersey back in the late 90’s and other than having a problem understanding them when they talk, I met nothing but very fine people that were willing to help you if you needed it. I think New Jersey is just as patriotic as my home state of Alabama. I was very impressed by the people of New Jersey.

It definitely has to be Texas. I saw a fireworks show in Burleson last night, and there must’ve been 5-6 other fireworks shows you could see on the horizon.

Sorry, I don’t buy that SC (pinko L. Graham territory) and ME (hellloo, commies Snowe & Collins) are the top 2 “patriotic” states. Not by a long shot.

Yes, the criteria is obviously gamed.

If Washington, D.C. was a state, based on this criteria it would be probably at the top of the list...

Maine is the second most patriotic state? Texas is less patriotic than Colorado?

Thank you for your excellent defense of Maine.

People may assume it’s just another leftard nuthouse but when SHTF, I know where I’d rather be. Well, not in Lewistan, but generally speaking, it’s a pretty good place to hunker down. Off the zombie beaten path.

Yankee ingenuity and resourcefulness for the win.

If you could separate Florida into the Panhandle and South Florida., the Panhandle would rank much higher. Plus we have some very good military bases here: Pensacola NAS, Eglin AFB, Tyndall AFB (original home of the F-22 Raptors), Navy Coastal Systems Station, etc.
Most military retirees have made this their permanent home.
You don’t bad-mouth the USA around here and get by with it unless you’re ALONE and nobody (and nobody’s dog) hears you!

If Texas could, somehow get rid of AUSTIN, it would top the list.

Can I get an amen??

Many Texans are Texans first, Americans since 1845. I think it has to do with self-sufficiency.

For the most part, the attitude has worked quite well.

I think this poll is a joke. Taxachusetts is more patriotic than Mississippi? They don’t seem to enlist in the Army as much as Miss.

“False is the idea of utility that sacrifices a thousand real advantages for one imaginary or trifling inconvenience; that would take fire from men because it burns, and water because one may drown in it; that it has no remedy for evils, except destruction. The laws that forbid the carrying of arms are of such a nature. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.”
Cesare Beccaria On Crimes and Punishments
