There is a scandal going on at the Internal Revenue Service, but it has nothing to do with Lois Lerner or her missing emails.
No, the real scandal is what Republicans did to cripple the agency when virtually no one was looking. Since the broad Tea Party-driven spending cuts of 2010, the agency’s budget has been cut by 14 percent after inflation is considered, leading to sharply reduced staff, less enforcement of the tax laws and poor taxpayer service.
The budget cutters are also trying to prevent the agency from performing its new job of collecting higher taxes on the rich to pay for health care reform, and distributing health insurance subsidies for low- and moderate-income people, many of whom will now be covered for the first time.

Cry me a river!!! -- Read the article, you have to read it to get the full effect -- it laments the cut in the funding of the IRS!
They need to cut if 50%, and if they chose not to collect from “the rich” like Warren Buffet, that is a CHOICE.

If some patriotic conservative runs ( patriotic - meaning doesn’t care what the NYT says) on a ‘let’s get rid of the IRS’ message, what will the NYT do?
Russia has a flat 13% personal income tax.

Also —in Russia there is basically NO capital gains tax, if you owned the asset longer than 3 years.

I think it’s mostly because they want a bigger budget,since they were put in charge of the obamacare taxes...

Start by ordering its elimination and separately build a new tax system without “tainted” current employees.
Maybe it’s time to start learning Russian and find out the immigration policy of Russia...
Russia has an 18% VAT. And about a million squat toilets. Not a place we should be emulating.

Shutting down conservative political organizations in advance of the 2010 and 2012 elections was a partisan witchhunt designed to sway both elections.

This means that the NYT knows that there’s big trouble ahead for the IRS..this is a bad attempt to deflect..
