Someone likely running against Walt Havenstein, a Republican gubernatorial candidate in New Hampshire, has unearthed a real gem of a video.
The 17-second video now on YouTube shows Havenstein speaking to a group of business students at the University of New Hampshire four years ago. In the clip, the GOP candidate derisively refers to tea partiers as teabaggers.
We got a lot of problems in this country, Havenstein says. The teabaggers, or whatever they are, theyve been telling us that all summer long. Alright?
He then asks Isnt that who they are? with his tongue stuck out.
Im a little out of touch, he adds, with a big grin on his face.
At the time Havenstein, a Naval Academy graduate, was the CEO of Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), a large McLean, Va.-based information technology company that provides government services.
Another Republican candidate for governor in New Hampshire, Andrew Hemingway, has jumped on Havenstein over his impolitic remarks, reports NH Journal.
Whether one likes the Tea Party or doesnt like the Tea Party, everyone should be offended by this, Hemingway said in a statement obtained by NH Journal. People have referred to me as a Tea Partier and I always say this: If you mean an average citizen worried about the future of our country as it relates to over-taxation, over-regulation and limited liberty who is willing to stand up and work? Then fine. Thats who these people are.
Hemingway also called his opponent a Washington establishment-chosen candidate who refers to fellow Republicans in a sexually derogatory manner.
He called on Havenstein to apologize.

It will be funny when he loses
How to sink a campaign in 17 seconds or less.
“Teabaggers” and “I’m out of touch”... In rapid fire. LOL.
New state motto: Live free or whatever.
Actually what this guy is doing is a great career move for him. With his credentials he can get a media job as a “conservative” commentator when he gets his ass kicked in November. This snarky p^&ck knows exactly what he is doing.
If the Tea Party ever becomes a real Party the Democrat and Republican Parties will merge
I wonder just how much it’s going to take before folks finally understand that supporting the GOPe is no different than supporting Democrats.
I remember the memos he used to send out... this dude clearly had English as a second language and nobody knew what his first was.
I will be calling tomorrow and tell them his comment make him a king size jerK!!!Judy Havenstein, Treasurer
Havenstein for Governor | PO Box 5998 | Manchester, NH 03108 | 603-686-7097
He looks a bit like Karl Rove.
Chris Christie visits Granite State to campaign for Havenstein
“Chris Christie visits Granite State to campaign for Havenstein”
Well that certainly completes the picture.
If you ignore the slur, ‘teabagger’, and focus on the words, he seems to side with the Tea Party. I suspect that like a lot of people, including myself at one time, he didn’t know what ‘teabagger’ meant, and didn’t know it was a slur.
When is the primary?
I just found a nice article about Havenstain’s GOP opponent:
Andrew Hemingway: A Millennial Governor in N.H.?
The primary is in September.
I used to work for them. They're a giant defense/government services contractor. Wow. Hope this sinks him. Thank God for the internet, that we can get this information.
“The primary is in September.”
Thanks — that’s pretty late. Not much time for the GOP candidate to campaign against the Dem one.
I believe you have nailed it!! Good forward thinking! First time that has been mentioned.
“Thanks thats pretty late. Not much time for the GOP candidate to campaign against the Dem one.”
That’s intentional. It’s the same here in MA. So they play the convention game. The powers that be pick a candidate ahead of time, then they shut out any conservative at the convention so there is no primary, and the people have no choice.
That didn’t happen here this year. A Tea Party guy got onto the September ballot. But the same guy who lost in 2010 will end up getting the nomination again and will lose again. But at least we get to vote against him in September, to send a message.
That’s what is so frustrating to them. The Tea Party is not a real party, it is a state of mind.
You know the one thing nobody has brought up to the best of my knowledge is that teabagging is now sort of a DECLARATION of VICTORY in the online video games. The warrior wins, and shows it by teabagging the loser.. and its all a very F you in your face move to show dominance.
The teabagger IS dominant.
Besides all the libs are Salad tossers anyhow
You can’t take the LIE out of LIbEral.
You mean they haven't merged? hard to tell. ;-)
He’ll probably say, “Dude that was 4 years ago”. Loser.
Um it was like that well before the Tea Party, I was/am a gamer and this was in the ORIGINAL Halo of 2003 for the FIRST X-Box.
Btw, IMO it’s stupid as this “teabagging” refers to homosexual acts.
“With his credentials he can get a media job as a conservative commentator when he gets his ass kicked in November”
Yep he will be the Chrystal Ball of Fox News, with their inly accomplishment being they got their A$$ handed to them in a election.
They’re the same party, different spelling when the need arises. Proudly never was a party member on both. When I was a member of the Conservative Party in canada, at least, I knew they were conservatives. The GOP? Bleh
