The border crisis could reach the front doorsteps for dozens of neighbors in a Grand Prairie community.
That’s because the old Lamar Alternative school on Walnut Street has been placed on a short list of three locations in North Texas that could house some of the 2,000 children expected to be brought up to DFW from the border.
It’s a plan that would build a fence around the school building to keep the children in, and one that has folks on both sides of that fence.
“It’s ironic it’s 4th of July, I mean how desperate are we that we came across all this land and ocean to find freedom, I’m all for it,” said Rene Velasquez.
She’s lived in the neighborhood for more than 10 years.
“As a mother of four, I feel for these kids, these families and I'm okay with it, as a Christian, we’re supposed to invite and welcome,” she said.
Other neighbors say, not so fast.

Having lived in Grand Prairie I can say it couldnt happen to a more deserving group go immigrants...
At the time I lived there, I worked in Dallas and in the course of my job I visited the wealthiest of the wealthy’s homes.
I noticed that the women especially looked immaculate...(as well as the lawns) the plastic surgeons were working around the clock to keep everyone looking as good as they could ..
At the end of the day I would return to my hovel in Grand Prairie and I began to notice that the people there looked a bit different. Arms ,legs, and miscellaneous body parts were usually missing.And no one seemed all that happy (unless they were good and drunk).
It was night and day under the hot Texas sun and Grand Prairie was where the darkest night began.

I have posted on many threads that these illegals are being welcomed to fill housing and schools that Americans won’t; I find it ironic that they are being housed in a vacant school. Here in northeastern NJ, we’ve had a de facto amnesty for decades; we don’t have vacant schools (and that is why).
Granted, towns that are 90% Anglo on paper are 90% Latino in the schools...
I would guess it took more than a handful of democrats and republicans in the Legislature to put that bill on his desk.
do Christians consider Obama’s plan “welcoming and inviting” to put “kids” (what ages? physical and mental health screened?)in abandoned schools surrounded by barbed wire and guards?
releasing and shipping kids to anyone who claims to be “family”?
when are the busses going to roll into Malibu Hollywood and Beverly Hills, Hyde Park Chicago, Georgetown, Marthas Vineyard, Chappaqua NY?
This school in GP is actually owned by GP ISD. And close to 50% of GP is Hispanic. If you add up Hispanics, Blacks, and Asians, whites are a small minority in GP. The GP city govt is a weak mayor system. The Dallas County govt is controlled by democrats. Only one county commissioner is republican and all other elected offices are democrat. It is the County Executive Clay Jenkins(D) naming these sites. He is not an actual judge but is called County Judge because he presides over the Commissioners Court.
Another proposed location is an empty school in Red Bird area, which is predominately Black. The 3rd proposed location is an empty warehouse owned by Parkland Hospital, which is the County Hospital, located in a Hispanic area.
Let the gangs take care of them, they are going to take care of them eventually, so why not just get a head start.
