How does the U.S. economy do it? Europe is floundering. China faces slower growth. Japan is struggling to sustain tentative gains. Yet the U.S. job market is humming, and the pace of economic growth is steadily rising.

LESS BUDGET-CUTTING

Weighed down by debt, many European countries took an ax to swelling budget deficits. They slashed pension benefits, raised taxes and cut civil servants' wages. The cuts devastated several European economies. They led to 27 percent unemployment in Greece, 14 percent in Portugal and 25 percent in Spain. The United States has done some budget cutting, too, and raised taxes. But U.S. austerity hasn't been anywhere near as harsh.

Ridiculous.

Total crap. 500,000 people lost their full time jobs in a month, and 799,000 gained part time jobs (and judging by the sector gains they’re mostly low-skill jobs). Equals about 288,000.

Thanks Obamacare.

Headline:

“What’s making US economy a world beater?”

Fact:

“After having shrunk at a 2.9 percent annual rate from January through March”

HighLarious!

In Britain, the word ‘hum’ can be used as a synonym for ‘stink’, maybe he’s British?

I think in economic terms, ‘Europe’ is too broad a term to use. Britain’s economy has been growing at a faster rate in recent months than the US economy (2.5% compared to 2.0%) and certainly more than the Eurozone, which has grown by less than 1% so far this year (thank God we never joined the Euro).

All those other countries need is a media that will go to any extreme to prop up incompetence, corruption and deception, and they could be just like us.

I think it is the fiscal equivalent of what the porn industry calls “fluffing.”

Well, true, but the ‘act’ is the same in my book, real effect or not. :o) I’m sticking with Fiscal Fluffing.

“It’s an election year and the Democrats at Yahoo! know what is as stake. Expect gold bars to be flying into people’s bank accounts according to the “news sources” the closer we get to November. And a rainbow made of Skittles. With unicorns.”

That’s right; people in each region will simply assume the prosperity they don’t see around them is happening somewhere else.

It worked to re-elect the Kenyan Pirate...
