Posted on 07/07/2014 1:43:27 PM PDT by Responsibility2nd
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Monday that Democrats will take up legislation in the coming weeks to address last months Supreme Court decision that allowed some employers with religious objections to opt out of Obamacares contraception mandate.
Democrats on Capitol Hill have overwhelmingly criticized the high courts ruling in the Hobby Lobby case and are working to craft a response that would restore the coverage, though no specifics have yet been outlined.
Were going to do something about the Hobby Lobby legislation, Reid said on the Senate floor Monday as he ticked off the Senates to-do list over the next several weeks.

Bring it, Hopalong Harry.
These traitors need to be stopped.
I would assume Pedo-Harry will craft the legislation to snare those slacker brothers of His Arrogance known as Prophet Mo’s heathens.
How DARE Hobby Lobby think a law passed by a Democrat Congress and signed by a Democrat POTUS should apply to them! Burn the heretics! [/ stupid Democrat mode]
We’re going to do something about Harry Reid.
Rule #1: Liberals Never Lose. They may experience setbacks, but they never stop until they get what they want.
Who says crime does not pay in DC ??? Just ask the Repubs.
Sorry Harry but the Senate can’t write legislation.
Reid is literally out of control with his rhetoric. This asshole continues to attack business and individuals from his position as a U.S. Senator, he needs reigned in.
Pass a budget, Harry.
It is time.
What does Old Harry think he’s going to do? Repeal the First Amendment?
Plan on a change of scenery in November, harry...
You lost the Hobby Lobby fight!!!
They just need a distraction/issue for how much things suck. November is coming.
Hypocricy. As long as a certain middle eastern death cult is exempted from 0bamacare, then the entire democrat party is full of hypocrites.
They won’t be happy until Hobby Lobby is out of business and all their employees are unemployed!
That will show them......
So much to hate about this lousy communist creep.
The commentary from the left on this case decision has been remarkable. Since no “rational person” should be upset that a handful of companies, in the scheme of things, are able to opt out of providing abortion coverage for their employees— based on their religious objection—one may conclude:
1. The “crazy left” is really that crazy;or
2. They are genuinely misunderstanding the meaning of the Court’s ruling; or
3. They understand the Court’s ruling, but are purposely misleading the public and reconstituting the “War on Women” meme just in time for the mid-term elections.
I choose both numbers 1 and 3.
“We’ll show ‘em! Hobby Lobby is gonna PAY for this impertinence! NOBODY uses the religious exception, not on MY watch!”
So, Harry, maybe we should take you off the watch.
If senility does not claim you first. Remember Frank Lautenberg.
You know, even most idiots know that the Supreme Court hands down decisions, or rulings, while the Congress is (supposed to be) responsible for legislation. But then, what can you expect from a numbskull who thinks Federal Income taxes are voluntary. See:
You’re right about 1 & 3.
The smart part (leadership) realizes that this is a fuss over 5 bucks a month, but is exaggerating it as part of the rich old white men’s war on women. The dumb part buys it.
Hey Harry - the USSC just said that “doing something” on this issue, by your branch of the gov’t, is unconstitutional.
Perhaps you’re going to introduce an amendment repealing the 1st?
Nope, that’s not how leftists do things.
What about the non-severability with ObamaCare? I thought because there wasn’t a severability clause, that if one part was struck down, the whole law was struck down?
How DARE Hobby Lobby be exempt from Obamacare? Who do they think they are, the Senate?
It’s kind of an amusing Freudian slip from liberals, though. The courts are their work-around legislatures.
An ant farm in your bedroom, maybe.
We've got lots of fire ants in Florida...I'll send you a starter kit of 'em.
Have fun playin' with yourself and your ant farm.
If the "we" you're referring to is the moronic Nevada voters, fat chance.
Gonna do what? It’s a SCOTUS decision Hairball! You need a constitutional amendment to overrule that dumba$$!
Yes, this is like John Boehner saying he’s going to sue Obama.
this isn’t about gay rights, this is about the first amendment. Government forcing/punishing another individual because of he/she said. Might as well make a law that say, no Christians allowed to voice their opinion
That was first thing i noticed as well. What hobby lobby legislation? Or if it is proposed legislation will it just apply to Hobby Lobby? The guy is Senate Majority Leader and he can’t even communicate.
[ Were going to do something about the Hobby Lobby legislation, Reid said on the Senate floor Monday ]
A supreme court decision is NOT Legislation, and if he wanted to “do Something” about “the legislation” the only thing he could do is Repeal Obamacare....
Once the SCOTUS issues a decision, isn’t it the law of the land? Or does that only work when the Democrats like the decision? /sarc
Harry is a detestable slug.
Exactly, and also, the left always, always, plays offense. I would say the putative right plays defense, but at least our so-called representatives on “the right”, don’t even do that even more. I think about half of them are secretly playing for the other team.
oops , you do not control the House this time ,LOL, get some Ex-Lax and shift this Harry The Reid
I’m tired of these people with little Bill of Rights tell the government what to do.
It’s time the little people come to heel.
Congress can exempt federal laws from the RFRA. I don’t think it would have a chance of passing, though. The Hobby Lobby decision was mostly about the applicability of the RFRA rather than a constitutional case.
Yeah, too bad there’s that pesky second house of the legislature!
It’s time the big God was called back into the picture.
He’s omnipresent to be sure... but right now it is as with His back turned to us, because we turned our backs to Him.
