Harry Reid: ‘We’re going to do something’ on Hobby Lobby

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Monday that Democrats will take up legislation in the “coming weeks” to address last month’s Supreme Court decision that allowed some employers with religious objections to opt out of Obamacare’s contraception mandate.

Democrats on Capitol Hill have overwhelmingly criticized the high court’s ruling in the Hobby Lobby case and are working to craft a response that would restore the coverage, though no specifics have yet been outlined.

“We’re going to do something about the Hobby Lobby legislation,” Reid said on the Senate floor Monday as he ticked off the Senate’s to-do list over the next several weeks.

The commentary from the left on this case decision has been remarkable. Since no “rational person” should be upset that a handful of companies, in the scheme of things, are able to opt out of providing abortion coverage for their employees— based on their religious objection—one may conclude:

1. The “crazy left” is really that crazy;or
2. They are genuinely misunderstanding the meaning of the Court’s ruling; or
3. They understand the Court’s ruling, but are purposely misleading the public and reconstituting the “War on Women” meme just in time for the mid-term elections.

I choose both numbers 1 and 3.

“We’ll show ‘em! Hobby Lobby is gonna PAY for this impertinence! NOBODY uses the religious exception, not on MY watch!”

So, Harry, maybe we should take you off the watch.

If senility does not claim you first. Remember Frank Lautenberg.

We’re going to do something about the Hobby Lobby legislation...

You know, even most idiots know that the Supreme Court hands down decisions, or rulings, while the Congress is (supposed to be) responsible for legislation. But then, what can you expect from a numbskull who thinks Federal Income taxes are voluntary. See:

You’re right about 1 & 3.

The smart part (leadership) realizes that this is a fuss over 5 bucks a month, but is exaggerating it as part of the rich old white men’s war on women. The dumb part buys it.

Hey Harry - the USSC just said that “doing something” on this issue, by your branch of the gov’t, is unconstitutional.

Perhaps you’re going to introduce an amendment repealing the 1st?

Nope, that’s not how leftists do things.

What about the non-severability with ObamaCare? I thought because there wasn’t a severability clause, that if one part was struck down, the whole law was struck down?

It’s kind of an amusing Freudian slip from liberals, though. The courts are their work-around legislatures.

Harry, you need a hobby.

An ant farm in your bedroom, maybe.

We've got lots of fire ants in Florida...I'll send you a starter kit of 'em.

Have fun playin' with yourself and your ant farm.

The Senate can write legislation, but it must pass BOTH houses and be approved by the President before it becomes law.

Plan on a change of scenery in November, harry...

Obama: "But...what if the Republicans take over the Senate?"

Jarrett: "With McConnell?? Get real! Totally under our control! He doesn't wipe his butt without my permission!"

We’re going to do something about Harry Reid.

If the "we" you're referring to is the moronic Nevada voters, fat chance.

this isn’t about gay rights, this is about the first amendment. Government forcing/punishing another individual because of he/she said. Might as well make a law that say, no Christians allowed to voice their opinion

That was first thing i noticed as well. What hobby lobby legislation? Or if it is proposed legislation will it just apply to Hobby Lobby? The guy is Senate Majority Leader and he can’t even communicate.
