Tea Party should reform the GOP, not splinter it
Washington Examiner ^ | July 7, 2014 | Brett M. Decker

GETTYSBURG, PA – One of the hottest-selling t-shirts at souvenir shops outside Gettysburg proclaims, “If at first you don’t secede, try, try again.”

While the pun is popular among Civil War re-enactors at the historic battlefield, the message also has growing appeal in contemporary politics, especially among fractious Republicans.

On both the Right and the Left, activists are convinced that the Republican Party is not pure enough on their issues, and perhaps it is time to break away and create a new political organization to shake up the system.

“It's hopeless; Republicans are as much at fault as Democrats for the debt bomb rocketing towards $20 billion, and we wouldn't be stuck with Obamacare if it weren't for [Chief Justice John] Roberts, a George W. [Bush] appointee,” fumed a conservative congressional staffer at a Fourth of July barbecue in suburban Washington, D.C.

“The Tea Party needs to cut loose from the establishment that's holding back real reform and make a fresh start,” the staffer said...

The Tea Party delivered control of the House to Republicans and what did it get in return? Nothing but harrassment and being marginalized by GOP “leaders”.

RINOs will only go out kicking and screaming and splintering, but go out they will.

I'm serving advance notice that I only vote conservative even if it means dems get the White House.

GOP must put up conservatives or be destroyed.

I said the same thing with Mitt and meant it and the results are amazingly apparent.

I believe the GOP will double down on stupid.

Screw em.

Wrong. We are the enemy. They are our enemy. Simple as that.

We have been trying to do that for 12 years no to no success.

The Republican Leadership, Karl Rove, John McCain, Mitch McConnel, Lindsey Graham, Mitt Romney (Socialist Medicare), and Paul Ryan (illegal immigration, etc... Have been doing everything they can to collaborate with the Democrats that want to exhaust our resources by flooding it (Cloward Piven Strategy)in order to collapse the United States.

These clowns that signed a rigged agreements like NAFTA and GATT that has exported many of our jobs, the coal industry, which is 50% of our power, being shut down and at the very same time they our flooding country with people will be on government welfare, free housing, free medical, free education. Basically they a slave class that will do whatever the government wants them to do like take away our rights. Even though that is illegal and high treason.

The Globalist (aka Spectre) are imploding our country folks. This is coming from the same people that say they can inside trade, but the average person cannot. They want to bring in the North American Union.

This is what you get when you have one party rule. The current Republican Leadership is completely compromised and have sold out this country. They have to be replaced immediately or the Tea Party has to organize.

The Republican Leadership has sold conservatives out! Repeat the Republican Leadership has sold conservatives and our country out. They have betrayed conservative movement.

Can’t be done. Cochran’s shenanigans in Mississippi just proved that. The GOP-E needs to be burned to the ground and the earth salted underneath it.

The DNC Lite™ does not want to change, as witnessed in Mississippi. They are on their way to becoming the third party.

It's better to focus energy on reforming from within.

What the Hell do you think the Tea Party has been doing?

If it wasn't for the Tea Party, there'd be no Republican majority in the House.

We get attacked by the elites in the GOP, for daring to stick to principles that Republicans are SUPPOSED to be sticking to.

There is obvious reason to prefer that one of the current major parties could be transformed into a conservative, small government, non-corporate cronyist, pro-middle class party.

The rules, however, do not favor that. They favor the moneyed, the insiders, the nepotists. Are we or are we not looking at Bush 3?

Admittedly, it is a pipe dream, but we must return to the original ideas about a republic: electing local electors who we know and trust who gather and pick the president. Democracy is a terrible tyrant.

A democratic election — popular vote victory — is giving in to the power elites.

Have to exterminate some RINOs first.

In the metaphorical sense, of course.

And when they set out to destroy us for attempting to reform them?

Cantor them.

If that doesn't work, McDaniel them.

I always find these threads about starting a third party amusing. Conservatives can’t even organize a dozen people to go to the local village council meeting to protest a property tax. They can’t organize a dozen people to show up at the local schoolboard meeting to protest the leftist public school curriculum.

The proof is in the pudding. High property taxes are nearly everywhere. The leftist public school agenda is marching onward. Conservatives don’t show up at their local government meetings, and they want to start a new national party? Ha!

Until you take back your local communities and neighborhoods by organizing and throwing out the leftists in your village councils, the county boards and the schools, you ain’t in no way and no how ready to start a new national party.

The founders left us a blueprint called Committees of Safety. Unless you commit yourselves and follow the Founder’s strategy, you will fail.

I’m a Conservative, not a Republican. I will never give a dime to a party that calls me racist and stabs me in the back at every turn. You’d have to be a f***ing idiot to support your enemies thus. The uniparty can fight for votes amongst the illegal aliens, section-8 sponges and corporate welfare queens.

Reform from within, destroy from without if that fails. From what I can see, the only losing move is to do nothing.

But that’s just my opinion.

Like the saying goes, the establishment will see the light when they feel the heat.

Wrong.

You're operating from the faulty assumption that the GOP-e wants to defeat Democrats. They have proven that the ONLY defeat they care about is the one against conservative/TEA Party.

If Mississippi doesn't prove it, nothing will. The entire purpose of Cochran's (or is that McConnell's, or is that GOP-E's) traitorous sell-out of the Repub base was in order to defeat the conservative. There was and is NO REGARD to what happens in November. They don't care. For them, the victory WAS over McDaniel. There is simply no other way to spin it.

We’ve experimented with various ways to overcome this corrupt, rigged system over the last decade.

So far we’ve found lots of things that will work, given a large enough mass of conservatives.

So far those conservatives have not been willing.

But, as anyone with basic reading comprehension skills can figure out from reading the responses on this thread, that is changing.
