WASHINGTON -- Returning from a one-week recess, the Senate voted 84-12 Monday to proceed with debate on legislation that would ease restrictions on hunters and fishers while continuing a popular wetlands restoration program.
But final passage of The Bipartisan Sportsmen's Act of 2014 isn't certain, with some senators and environmental groups raising objections to a provision that would end an EPA requirement that ammunition makers limit use of lead and other toxic materials for guns used by hunters. That provision is sought by the National Rifle Association and some groups representing hunters who complain about ammunition shortages.

lead and other toxic materials —
Of course we first think of lead bullets, but ‘other toxic materials’ could end up being anything. CO2, for example has been declared toxic in some cases. Burning plastic is toxic; what if your synthetic gun stock burns? Gun powder, primer material all are chemicals that at some stage can probably be interpreted as toxic.
And that is only hunting. Fishing will be it’s own can of worms (sorry, couldn’t resist).
PS my fear of lead and lead poisoning goes back as far as first grade — lead pencils, you know. Then in second grade, a girl stabbed me with her pencil (unintentional, but still have the mark). Well I didn’t die, or even get sick, or infected. So much for the hype.
The second amendment has NOTHING to do with hunting or “sporting”. It’s all about being able to possess and bear arms in order to be prepared to fight against tyranny, be it internal or external.
The time has come to put an end to this absurd distinction/claim that the second amendment only pertains to hunting or sporting activities and to put the true reason out in the open.
At ease. Lead was never in a “lead” pencil.
The ducks were reported as sucking up spent shot from lake ans swamp bottoms and getting lead poisoning. False.
Think about that. Ducks are a lot smarter than greenie environmentalists.
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
Yes from a very limited study back in the 50s that necropsied dead ducks shot by hunters.
Very small number of ducks expanded by faulty math to mean millions of ducks.
