LAREDO - City leaders in Laredo say they will not use taxpayer money to help illegal immigrants released from Border Patrol custody.
Laredo Mayor Raul Salinas said the city has to look out for its own citizens.
Laredo's position runs counter to those of cities like McAllen, which has spent thousands in tax dollars helping Central Americans released from Border Patrol custody.

I spoke to a Vietnamese lady who owns a nail salon in Southlake, TX not long ago. She was telling me her life story about how she came here from Vietnam.
She and her family came here legally. They each had only the clothes on their backs. The government got them an apartment in Houston for one year and then told them they were on their own. She and her family had to pay back every dime, which they were glad to do for being allowed the honor of living in the U.S.
She is so angry about illegal immigration and the handouts.
That is one of the few things I’d be happy to pay taxes for.
One of the few things that is a constitutional use of taxpayer money.

Salinas, have denounced the House version of the Violence Against Women Act reauthorization for failure to include provisions that would better protect and serve native Americans, LGBT couples and undocumented immigrants.
