Harry Reid: ‘We’re Going to Do Something’ on Hobby Lobby Ruling
Mediaite ^ | 7/7/2014 | Josh Feldman

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid gave a strong indication today that the Democrats plan to take action on the Supreme Court’s Hobby Lobby ruling when he said on the Senate floor, “We’re going to do something about the Hobby Lobby legislation.” Reid mentioned this hope the Democrats have as he went through a laundry list of issues Democrats want to get done as the Senate continues its current session.

After the Supreme Court ruled last week, Reid reacted by saying, “If the Supreme Court will not protect women’s access to health care, then Democrats will.” Democrats have been mulling over several possible responses to the ruling, including amending the Religious Freedom Restoration Act so that corporations can’t be given those protections similar like individuals can.

Reactions to the ruling have come in by the score, including one federal judge telling the Supreme Court they should “STFU.”

The truth about these Demonrats is finally coming out. Only the fecklessness of the GOPe will allow them to deny it.

Repeal the religious freedom act that Democrats passed under Clinton?

This is nothing but an attempt to rile up the democrat base before the election. Reid knows that the House leadership would never even bring the bill to a vote on the outside chance that he could even get it through the senate (a very doubtful prospect as even many red state democrats Senators up for reelection would probably vote against it)

The Dems keep reframing the issue implying that Hobby Lobby is denying women access to birth control when it is clearly only those methods that kill babies post conception not pre conception. They are framing it in a way that implies Christians and religious freedom are the obstacle that stands in their way; a purely Satanic chess move.

From all I’ve heard, SCOTUS did no block women’s “access” to birth control, only who could be forced to foot the bill. All based on the bipartisan religious freedom act. Reid is Obama’s “Goebbels” minister of propaganda and Obama ideology enabler.

The Dems will do another end run around the law of the land. Who will stop them? Certainly not the weak and feckless GOP that does not have the fortitude to fight this reckless party and their unconstitutional power grabs.

Reid is a scoundrel of the worst order but he is cunning enough to know he can push the envelope without any consequences. Until this bully and Obama meet real resistance they’ll keep ignoring laws and doing as they please.

Hobby Lobby Legislation? Did I miss something, Dingy? I think Dingy has proved he is incapable of understanding reality and therefore, needs to be removed from office....forcefully.

The Dems keep reframing the issue

Exactly. And why not? They have great success with this tactic. But they also have the great advantage of having a weak and feckless opponent who fears them.

The Dems lie, distort and distract because it works so well for them. Its easy to score points when the other team lets you do it so easily.

Probably a bill to amend the RFRA, which will be DOA in the House.

But plays well with young Fluke-types at election time.

We thought it was bad when all Hillary!™ had was a briefcase with a few key FBI files.

Obama has unfettered access to terabytes of data on anyone and everyone.

With all due respect, I would argue that he does understand reality. He knows he can act with impunity. Dingy is well aware that he may only have two years left as majority leader so he’ll push the envelope at every opportunity while he can.

Someone like that should not be a senator and by all rights should have been removed by his own state long ago. Just saying.

“SCOTUS did not block women’s “access” to birth control”

Exactly. The supreme court just said the rest of us should not be required to pay for it. That’s the issue here - who is paying for it. Those wanting what Hobby Lobby’s insurance doesn’t cover can obtain it by paying for it themselves.

He has a pen, a phone AND lots of data. In his own words he will “take executive actions and administrative actions that move the ball forward.” In his view, moving the ball forward often means making up the rules as you go along and destroying your opponents who may be blocking “progress”. The petulant and arrogant Obama clearly believes that the end justifies the means when it comes to things he wants.

If the GOP had any princples or convictions they would have exercised the power of the purse and acted to cut funding to the executive branch.

The court followed the law, RFRA, that the Dems passed in the 90’s, AND in their opinion the majority wrote that there was a compelling interest to provide the disputed contraception, but that this could be done less restrictively (i.e. not intruding on religious freedom) by the administration simply doing what it already does for religious NOT-for-profit corporations, so that they don’t need to be involved.

So yes, Sen. Reid, if you want to do EXACTLY what the conservative majority of the court suggested, then just be sure to thank them for the good advice when you do.

If only the GOP (a.k.a. the white flag party) had the courage and conviction that the ranchers have. Sadly the GOP has no intention of ever standing its ground.

He understands reality very well and knows the donks can get around the SC decision, especially since the female members of the SC all but flat out told The One to ignore the Hobby Lobby decision.

Arrogant unConstitutional Bastard. Separation of Powers? Congressional hands off SCOTUS.

Just imagine Dingy Harry's reaction if George W. Bush had said ... "We're Going To Do Something on Rove v Wade Ruling ..."
