Runaway Country: Why Is Washington (Obama) So Bad at Crisis Management?
NBC News ^ | July 8, 2014 | Chuck Todd

Posted on 07/08/2014 7:26:12 AM PDT by Rennes Templar

Another week, another crisis for the Obama White House -- this time all the Central American children who have crossed into the country. Today, the White House is formally asking Congress for about $2 billion for immigration judges, attorneys, and asylum officials. But what we find striking is that this is yet another event controlling the White House rather than the other way around.

Here is the formula, which we also saw recently with the crisis in Ukraine, the crisis at the VA, and the new crisis in Iraq: A conflict or public-policy problem gets a tremendous amount of media attention. Congress and the political opposition begin pointing fingers at the White House. And then the White House -- after hedging, hemming and hawing -- finally reacts.

This was especially true after DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson dodged the question Sunday on “Meet the Press” whether the children would be deported, and then a day later when White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest answered affirmatively that they would be deported.

In short, the White House is always reacting and rarely gets ahead of a problem. Their response is usually the same: We didn’t see this coming; it’s much worse than we anticipated, all leaving the impression that they just don’t have their arms around the government they run.

The question is whether this is the new normal in this age of polarization and speedy news cycles, or if this is unique to Obama’s presidency?

Cracks getting wider. Todd of course tries to draw in the GOP, but finally some MSM questioning of this President's failure as a leader.

Because they manage by *generating* one crisis after another, never solving any of them.

If one’s sole goal is to effect and manage the complete devolution of traditional America, then EVERY crisis is welcomed. No one said disaster isn’t in his plan, and accordingly, managing disaster to its worst conclusion isn’t bad management. It’s a matter of interpretations.

He is so bad at it, he cannot recognize what a crisis is.

He just wants America to go away.

Ignoring what he does know, is the best way to feign innocence....

I think it’s plain old incompetence. He’s in way over his head, it’s the Peter Principle on steroids.

I often wonder what the reaction would have been if Hurricane Katrina happened during the Obama administration.

The liberals successfully heaped abuse upon Bush as not having managed the response to Katrina, even though the mayor and governor at that time were Democrats. It was a Bush failure and a Republican failure per the liberals.

Does anybody think that Katrina would have played out differently if Obama had been president then?

The only difference would have been that the media and the liberals would not have used that incident to pillory the president.

Simple.

What we see as a crisis, he sees as fundamental transformation.

Did you guys think he was joking or something?

There is no crisis so devastating and disastrous that can’t be pushed out of the media radar with another crisis equally devastating and disastrous (or worse).

1-Obama has NO management experience.
2-Obama created most of the “crisis” to destroy Constitutional America.

It interferes with his struttin’ around and looking “cool”, not to mention his golf, basketball, fund raisers, etc.

His “ignore it and maybe it will go away” plan is catching up with him now.

Why? Because he just doesn’t care..

Yes, he doesn’t care how many people are harmed, but he care very much that crisis is achieved on all fronts.

“This was especially true after DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson dodged the question Sunday on “Meet the Press” whether the children would be deported, and then a day later when White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest answered affirmatively that they would be deported.”

The White House has surreptitiously created the border crisis by making public policy pronouncements about which immigration laws it would enforce (and which it wouldn’t). They ‘own’ this particular round of border problems.

That said, not everybody in the administration is “in the know” and Obama is deliberately keeping some of them in the dark. Hence the conflicting public statements. This is the mark of a dictator, BTW. Hitler & Stalin often set up conflict between their underlings by compartmentalizing information and duplicating effort.

Obama doesn’t care. He has no interest in being president. He just wants to be a celebrity.

I read somewhere that during his frequent vacations, he will spend a couple days in bed eating junk food. Staff upset that they have to frequently change the sheets.
