“I dont know when this broke down, but I recall a time when black folks dressed to the nines when they went out to clubs”
When I was 20 years old and military, I was invited to a party by a black woman as her date. I asked her if there would be other white people there, she assured me that there would be.
Not only were there no other whites there, I was the only man there without a tie on. I felt really out of place and not because I was the only white person there.
I was treated decently, 1965, Washington, D.C.
It is actually an anti-hoodlum dress code. And for this leftist ditz to assume “hoodlum” equals “black” is in fact 100% pure racism. No /sarc
Locally, we had a similar situation a few years ago.
A man moved here from the Chicago area and became involved in a large number of programs for the disabled/underprivileged/homeless/anti-gang/no drugs/etc. This man began claiming dress code based efforts to keep street thugs out were racist. After the local media had gotten all the sensitive types whipped into a frenzy saying that all the locals should be ashamed for being racist, he approached the town board and made demands that they donate large sums of money to charity to fight racism.
Shortly thereafter it was discovered that this guy was behind various manufactured "racist" incidents in the area. It came out that this persons involvement with the various programs was in fact to create cover and use these organizations as vehicles for various criminal/unethical/immoral acts. It was also discovered that this guy had friends in the local media outlets that were driving the story. Most importantly, it eventually came out that this man had dreams of becoming a Jesse Jackson type and the shake down money the city was to pay was seed money for his own recently founded "anti-racism" charity.
Instantaneous and intense popular backlash began and the man mysteriously disappeared.
Dig into the backgrounds and connections of these types of people and I suspect this whole newly discovered form of racism will disappear.
My church has a Somali family that left Minneapolis and islam and they have no reservations about warning everyone they meet of how bad it will be in Minneapolis once there’s enough ‘technicals’ living there.
Everybody seemed, from the pictures I have seen to have dressed back then. I guess it’s cheaper not to dress up.
Patch madras.
Hip Hop closed most of the bars near the river here in the flats in Cleveland...fights, stabbings, shootings, robberies always follow that crap.
Here in South Carolina the black folks still dress up for church, down to the smallest child. They look like they are attired to enter unto the house of the Lord.
Wish my fellow parishioners would. I put on a sport coat over slacks & dress shirt and I’m a snob for it.
No platypuses.
Ha!
I know people look at you funny if you come dressed at mine as well.
Let those who wish to dress in this manner open their own nightclub.
A business has a right to a dress code.
I have seen “No shirt—No shoes—No service’ signs all of my life & I am 74.
