People who enter the U.S. and nearby countries illegally from El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras should not be forced to return home and should be treated as refugees, a U.N. agency says. The U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees says people from those countries are subject to persecution.

"The United States isn't the only country being flooded by migrants from Central America. U.N. refugee spokesman Adrian Edwards says the number of people fleeing to Mexico, Belize, Costa Rica and other countries in search of asylum has increased by more than 700 percent since 2008.
" 'They are fleeing an environment of transnational organized crime and other problems there, and we believe that amongst that there are people who will be in need of international protection,' Edwards says.
"The refugee agency is particularly concerned about the large number of unaccompanied children arriving in the U.S. Washington estimates more than 90,000 unaccompanied children will arrive by the end of September."
reports that of the 52,000 unaccompanied children who have been taken into custody by U.S. border agents since October, about 75 percent are from Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador.
"Even in a region accustomed to immigrant surges, no one has seen anything like this before," from the Rio Grande area of Texas last month.
As last week, the Obama administration has struggled to discourage would-be migrants from attempting to cross into the U.S. illegally. Carrie talked to several people in Guatemala who said that conditions in their country — especially the economic prospects for its children — were enough to make them move north.

A few weeks ago I predicted that the verbage of this situation would be magically transformed from the term "Illegal Immigrant or Migrant Children" to the term "Young Refugees" in what would become a successful effort to demonize any verbage against this massive influx of Future Democrat voters and force Republicans into a defensive corner.

To even think of sending these poor Child refugees back to their horrid and violent meat grinder countries of origins will be a certain death sentence for these poor innocent defenseless children. Obviously, they didn’t. Either the rates are a lot lower than advertised, or as you’ve suggested, the compensation is coming from somewhere else.
They are not refugees they are gangsters-to-be. Without a family structure it will be difficult for them to be anything other than gang members. We should send them back and enforce the borders.

It had been $4000 per head, and they did raise it. If they were caught by Mexican police, the cops would take their money, but the American border patrol did not abuse them and did not steal from them.

Maybe all the blue helmets need to go down there and help police Guatemala because it is obviously having such a hard time doing it.
The trouble with making America an unlimited bleeding heart territory is that pretty soon it will become bleeding uninhabitable. Also how much of this crime and junk will these kids bring? Maybe even Chicago punks will be afraid of them.
